Baylor has played a brutal schedule this year and won every match, dropping only two sets along the way. Their non-con schedule included wins over UCLA, #18 Creighton, at #4 Wisconsin, at #11 Marquette, Tennessee, #17 Missouri, and #13 Hawaii (rankings from date of match). They definitely deserve to be where they are right now. But, holy ****. Who saw this coming from them?!

Ten years ago that's where I thought maybe, just maybe, we had a shot of getting close to. Of course I thought the same thing 20 years ago in WBB. We can only have really nice things in women's cross country and that isn't as strong this year either.

I am guessing Baylor WBB being in the Final Four all of the time doesn't hurt recruiting for women's sports at Baylor.

I guess I just don't understand the appeal of going to Baylor/Waco.

I assume they go there for the head coach, just like Ames for most sports. Baylor has been rising sharply in VB ever since McGuyre arrived there from Florida State. This is his 5th year there I think.

but, as you know, kids don't just go for the coach, especially girls, they go for the whole experience, the school, the location, the education, the other girls. I just don't get what the appeal about Baylor is, especially after all the rape stuff.

And Baylor doesn't have any "VB only" gym either - they play in the bball arena - Ferrell Center.

They are kind of similar to KU a couple of years ago when hit the jackpot with an elite OH (Kelsie Payne) and setter (Ainise Havili) who were both from TX.

Kind of the same deal with Baylor with their star OH (Y.Pressley) and setter (Lockin) who is distressingly from the state of Iowa.
