Maybe. But the reason Kirk was brought up was because the question was asked if anybody had built a decent program after starting 4-20 (which is an erroneous number anyway because that is not Chizik's starting record).
I'd have to disagree witrh you there, but see absolutely no reason to argue with someone who wouldn't listen anyway.
Oh, what the hell. We have a young offensive line. A young quarterback. Young receivers. All but two of that twenty or so (Dedrick and Sumrall) will be back next season.
According to Chizik's quote in the DMRegister earlier this week, ISU is a better team now than last year. I disagree with him 100% on that, but that's what he said.
Its hard to compare now to past seasons with the expansion in number of cupcake games... I think that any team in the Big 12 should have a base of 4 or 5 wins at a minimum. Especially if they decide to play MAC, WAC or 1aa schools instead of other BCS schools to start the season. We did have three quality wins last year with Mac's players... Do you see any quality wins on the horizon this year? Hopefully things will turn around...
I'm not complaining about McCarney. For the record, I loved him and was sad to see him go (I thought he should go, but I was still sad about it). It seems like you loved him too.
What's so different about Chizik that you're ready to run him out of town after just 19 games?
Here's an idea: what if it isn't necessarily all in our coaches lap? What about the players? But my key point, what about our AD?
I'm just as disappointed with the losses this season as anyone else, we aren't that far away from being 4-3 rather than 2-5. That goes to the coaching and the players. But as far as the development of this program into something more than what it is goes on Pollard. I'm sorry, the man is an idiot. Earlier he stated that we're "right where we want to be" as far as developing this program. Couldn't be farther from the truth. But what gets me is how he is turning ISU into a place more about the $$$ and the donors rather than the fans and actually enjoying a game, even if we lose. The new skyboxes are a great addition, but the overall experience at the games have changed and I don't believe it's for the better. Under Pre-Pollard DMac, I enjoyed the games (even if he wasn't/was the greatest coach we've had). So far with under Pollard/Chizik it's just been awkward, all this hype for nothing to hype up. Anyhow.....discuss......

Chizik said in his press conference last week that he thought the team was better than last year because we had a chance to win all our games up until last week.
Chizik seems to be doing okay with the recruiting end of the stick. He would make a really good... assistant coach!

Without money you can't build better facilities.
Without better facilities you can't recruit better talent.
Without better talent you can't win.
We played this game throughout the entire 1980s and 1990s - how did not raising money to spend on significant facility improvements help us win in that era? Answer - it sunk us into an abysmal pit that we're still trying to recover from right now.
I'm sorry - if you don't think that all these facility improvements that JP's implementing is necessary, then you truly must be okay with mediocre (at best) performances by our athletic programs.
I really thought that we had a good team even after starting 2-3. We had a couple of bad halfs but played with heart. Even if we were 5-2 right now I think that Chizik has not done a good job at motivating the team and at play selections. Our special teams has improved, I have to give him some credit there.
Before you keep bringing this up you need to realize that in Chizik's first season we were exactly 4 plays away from going 0-12 instead of 3-9.
Lets face it until more money is thrown at the program, nothing will change........it all about money!!!
I guess we can hope our young players currently performing poorly will somehow improve, I'll agree with you there. But I've been around long enough to have heard that logic before (Meyers class being the latest).
The line is bad, so it's hard to say how good or bad the skill position players are. However, there are way too many examples of running routes short, running east-west when all you have to do is fall forward for a first down, etc. Arnaud has regressed, he was much better last year. Chizik supposedly recruits great athletes, but how do they compare to other Big12 freshmen/sophomores? Not favorably at this point.
I'll listen to logic, but blind hope and excuses about young players wear thin.
I didn't hear that but has he completely forgotten 2007? What chance did we have to win the Texas Tech, Missouri, Kansas, and last but not least, the Texas game that year???
