Random Thoughts the 13th: Jason Takes RTT

I just went through my bills this past weekend and read through the privacy fine print. I was naively amazed that there were several that shared information to 3rd parties unless you chose to opt out. I spent about half an hour yesterday calling and going online to limit the sharing.

I really have no idea if it will help, but if I can cut down on a few stupid calls, it was worth it.

Ring Ring Ring
"Hello?"
"We see that you're interested in personal security since you opted out of sharing data. We'd like to talk to you about a special offer we have on our new enhanced security suite....."

I've successfully made it 5 weeks! Instead of going cold turkey, I decided to give up pop at work, allowing myself the occasional drink when we go out to eat or to a movie. I'm using Lent to wean myself away from it.

So far, so good. Plus, I'm back to drinking 50-70 oz of water during the day again. I'm hoping to make it stick this time. I miss the caffeine sometimes (I don't drink coffee and I refuse to drink energy drinks), but I feel better than I did a few months ago.

Welcome to the club, if you need a sponsor let me know, I’ve been “clean” for 14 months. Only one can of relapse. Btw, iced tea helps create kidney stones, so don’t go heavy on that. Powerade has 0 calorie Powerade zero. It’s ok and gives some variety from water. You will find going out to eat you are now limited to water, lemonade and booze. Have fun.

I cringe when I think of how much pop I used to drink in college. If I can get myself down to one every couple weeks, I'm ok with that.

I've kept a can of coke in the fridge here at work since the beginning of Lent. It's my trophy that I get to look at every day.

Some idiot just scheduled 9 meetings. One a month till the end of the year.
9 separate invites, not one recurring meeting.
Now he just cancelled all those meetings.

He's one of these guys that goes by first, middle and last name so you know the odds are high that he's a serial killer as well as an idiot.

How can an idiot be a serial killer? Wouldn't an idiot get caught immediately? Maybe he's an idiot and fruit molester?

I use to have 4-5 Mountain Dews a day. I was burning a zillion calories a day in my job when I was younger so all those empty calories was never a problem. Now I would say I average 2 sodas a month. I tried that orange vanilla Coke the other day. It was decent, nothing to get excited about.

The odds are high that he is a serial killer. There is no question on the idiot part.

This is the jerk that agreed at 3:15 pm the day before Thanksgiving that we would be more than happy to continue a Disaster Recovery test through Thanksgiving weekend when it was only a proof of concept that we could get their system to actually start at the remote site. Something their previous service provider couldn't do for 10 years. We did it on the first shot and that was Tuesday.

I'm no longer drinking pop of any kind, though I'm sort of cheating now and again by drinking seltzer water occasionally to get the fiz. I'm not big on coffee, so during tax season I splurge for some Hi-bALL sparking energy water. No sweeteners, zero calories, but 160 mg of caffeine in a can. Expensive AF, so I only "open a can" when I'm in dire straits.

I've been buying these water additives. If I use them I feel I drink more water. Just a few spritzes in a water bottle

I did the same thing years ago when I quit smoking. Left half a pack on my dresser, it was there for several months. Finally pitched it when I felt 100% sure I had gotten out from under the damn things.
