Lard Transferring

CSP needs someone just like you to wear a sweater and take long walks with the players and help them with this special journey through life they are on. Deep thoughts....

The dumbass part is that Cam had every opportunity to do what was expected of him.

That they try to pretend it’s all prohm, says much much much about their critical thinking skills, and, more to the point, their agenda

It's interesting - my favorite things are to come on these boards after a win and enjoy (well we USED to ALL be able to enjoy success) the camaraderie and to come on these boards to spar with idiots.

Does it make me a troll if I do a drive-by post supporting our team and coaches?

Nah, it actually makes you a fan who supports the team, not root for them to lose so they can go after the coach.

These people are actually upset when we win. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that this sucks so much. I feel like we really needed him next year to get into that next tier. I hope I'm wrong. I'm gonna miss watching you Cam, I hope you find a great fit somewhere.
When Prohm said he wasn’t concerned if Lard helped the basketball team but wanted him to be a good guy, I knew Lard was in trouble. The coach is supposed to develop the guys into having a meaningful impact on the team. “Making” them good (to Prohm’s standards isn’t his job). Prohm would be great as a preacher. Not seeing his adaptability and understanding of others as a basketball coach.

I think you're taking the words of a coach way too literal. Prohm seems to care about his players off the court, and he wanted to help Cam because he was going down a bad path, but you're crazy if you think Prohm only cared about Lard being a "good guy".

We can agree to disagree. I firmly believe Prohm cares about his guys, I’m just not sure how much any of us know about the players and whether they buy into his philosophies or whether they have real “problems” and how much that conflict effects Prohm’s player line up.

You're not sure if Lard had real problems?

Lard took the entire summer to the detriment to his athletic career and his team and you question if he had real "problems". Prohm has been more than patient with Lard. Waited an extra year for him to get the grades for college. Lard laughing when a team mate foulded out. It was time. Hopefully it is just him to transfer.

All of us can judge. I’m not giving anyone a pass, I’m just saying we have no idea what happens in the locker room or practices

Are you Lard? Are you on the team? That’s my point. None of us have the full story. I want people to stop blaming the players. We have zero idea of the whole truth.

I suggest reading up more on the Lard situation. Of course nobody knows the whole story, but it's pretty clear that he had real problems.

This may be the dumbest post yet.

So then why are you turning this into a blame the coach rant?

Really dumb. No critical thinking demonstrated. Doing exactly what you accuse others of.

Par for the course for the crew.

Lard would have been 21 if it was the one game suspension. I’ve long held the belief that Lard was just mishandled. I can’t figure out which way though. If he was on his 3rd strike or more that would show to much leniency. If someone isn’t getting it at that point it is time for a fresh start for both sides. With that said I think there is a decent chance some of the rules that Prohm has are to strict. Say we play Monday and Saturday. There is no reason that players who are 21 shouldn’t be able to go to a bar on Tuesday.

We are a state school with a major program. We don’t need the morality police creating rules. I’m by no means defending Lard because he would have known the rules and should have followed them. He would deserve the punishment for that aspect. That said the rule maybe needs to be addressed. If there is a rule of no bars during the season I think that is a problem.

Personally I think Prohm falls into the trap of having strict rules and not properly enforcing them. Prohms job is to make better men too but not at the expense of the team. If someone is being a problem cut them loose and direct them to someone who can help them get their life together.

I get the three strikes rule. However, it all depends on what the strikes are. I mean if he is doing lines off strippers asses that is a huge strike (Fun one) but huge. If he got caughter at a frat party, that is not to big of a deal. I mean was one of the strikes doing drugs after he went to rehab? That might be significant. However, I am not wanting prohm to kick a kid off for driving with a suspended license to make it to class.

None of us know yet you "go there".

You want people to stop blaming the player - and blame the coach. Not sure CSP is a hippy lettuce guy. Doesn't seem like a bar guy on a week night. Really sure CSP never started a fight in practice. He MAY have called a few guys selfish in his way, but his job is to get the team together. Which he did to the tune of 23 wins.

CSP has a top 30 winning percentage as a coach for those in the game at least 5 years. Top 10 offenses, top 30-ish defenses. 350 D1 teams. Kids graduate. Kids play pro ball.

Yeah - what a steaming pile.
