Growing up we used to put a few onions in the pickle jars when we made pickles. I really liked pickled onions.
On road trips, my mom would always pack a tupperware container of veggies. This would include green olives. I don't love green olives but I really liked the flavor of radishes soaked in olive juice.

Went on spring break to San Jose when in college with roommate (his hometown). He took me to this place where they raised and sold olives. Only sold in the industrial sized jugs. So for a week I basically lived on 2 gallons of some kinda flavored olives.

With our first child, my wife had really bad morning sickness. For several weeks, all she could eat were olives and butterscotch pudding.

You realize, I hope, that I do not like either black olives or black licorice. I do like sauerkraut if it’s warm and accompanies a brat or hot dog on a bun.

My uncle Bob makes killer homemade kraut. And you cannot have a brat without sauerkraut. It's un-American.

The olives, you can keep. We used to ration them out to the girls.....they'd eat them by the handful. Better than candy, I guess.

Interesting day yesterday. Wife got a text from one of her former classmates friends congratulating my son on getting this decent scholarship. Asked my son if he had heard anything and he said no. I rummaged around their twitter account and found their newsletter sure as all get out there it is.

Then late at night I finally ask if he has made up his mind on where he is going, he has apparently basically decided, @jcyclonee this is how you do it, he's becoming a CYCLONE. Has decided to walk away from his football scholarship and be done. Seems satisfied to just be a student. Many of the same reasons that I had when I walked away from mine. Except I had been through the process about 10 months earlier.

I wish I could sway her in that direction but she's not going to be a Cyclone. At least she's not going to be a Hawkeye. One of her best friends is going to ISU, though.
