Actually they didn't run off - he just got caught banging her. Probably early 80s, I think....
Happened at Wahlert HS (catholic HS) in Dubuque in the late 70s. Wrestling coach knocked up a HS student. He was married and had two kids at the time. Divorced his wife and married the girl.

Before I was a member, our church's married pastor ran off with the married church secretary. I think his marriage counseling should have been fairly easy.

On aside, the pastor that married us judged me on the first meeting and didn't like me. Made the counseling VERY interesting because he basically lectured me non stop in the counseling and told me what I should do in the marriage. Made me question if I really wanted to have him marry us but I didn't have a choice since this is who my wife wanted.

We need a new door to go to the garage. I have explained to everyone that you must now pull the door shut (it has the spring loaded hinge that would normally pull it shut). When I'm home, every time someone leaves, I have to go over and shut the door completely. I need time to go get a new one. Pickup is full of snow so I will have to shovel it out some.

It was choir tonight also. 7/8 choir sang and some kid who thought he was good sang really loud and really off key.

Lemme guess...choir was mic'd, and a microphone was pointed right at him? Ack.

Dunno if you were at this session, BC, but state wrestling, the girl singing the National Anthem got to "Oh say does that star spangled..." phrase, and went up in key by half a step. My eyes widened, and I see husband out of the corner of my eye turn to look at me. Gave two quick nods, and after it was over, we both look at each other and say "Oops".

Do yourself a favor, don't be tempted to buy a new door at Menards. There are many reasons their crap is so cheap. We have customers that come in almost every day, saying they are tired of getting $hit at that place. And poor service, too.

I don't remember that one. It seemed hit and miss when they did the national anthem. The first 1A session had the sister (I believe) of a current ISU wrestler sing it.

BTW, thanks for saying hi to me while I was leaving 1A and you were coming in for 5A. A lot of tall women go to state basketball so I can't really decipher you out.

I have a quandary though. The local lumberyard basically sells the same stuff as menards but just at a higher price when it comes to doors. I priced a storm door from them and they gave me a $300+ bid on it. I went to Menards with a buddy and they had the same door for roughly $125. I took the buddy to ask him one question. Is this the same storm door, quality wise, as the storm door I priced locally? He told me he could look at skus but it would be worthless. The model number is the model number for them. He oversees the shipping from the warehouse where the doors are produced.

So, while I prefer not to go to Menards, all I do buying locally is pay 3x the price. The local guy also owns the ones in neighboring towns.

I became skittish of the local guy when he first bought the place. I had ordered trim and doors for downstairs. I had a verbal bid of 1300-1400 for the whole set-up from the old owner. This is how he did things and would always be in that ball park. I got a call from the new owner that the millwork was in. I grabbed my checkbook and walked out without the product when he presented me with a bill for $2400. He told me there were increases during production, I laughed and said, you must think I'm a moron. Got a call back in a couple days lowering it to $2100, said that it was right near his cost and just started bad mouthing the previous owner. Wife made me take it since he was local and was concerned that I'd look bad if I made him eat it.

So, long story short, when it comes to my local guy, he is basically an expensive Menards.

That's probably more accurate than my statement. Anyway, if that had never happened, Coach Woodley may never have become a coach at ISU and may not have built a football powerhouse at Grand View.
