The KU office recommended Vick be put on university probation for two years, The Star has learned. It isn’t known if Vick was ever put on that probation or, if he was, if he is still on it. He continues to play.

My view, Bill Self is a horrible mentor. He brought Vick back only because he needed him (as stated above) not because he gives a crap about the youngster. Look at how Prohm handled Lard and others at ISU v. how Self dealt with Legearld. Self belongs in the NBA not in college teaching youngsters how to become men.

Looking at their schedule the next couple weeks. Should still beat OSU, TCU and WV at home. Probably lose at Texas Tech.

If it's truly only a couple weeks, he could be back for their KSU game. But hope he takes whatever time he needs to work out his family situation.

"Should beat" if this is the normal KU team. Now it isn't with out Vick and Doke their 2/3 leading scorer and Garrett missed the last 2 games due to injury. Vick is by far their best outside shooter and while he is gone will now hurt their spacing.

KU likely needs to win OSU, TCU and WV at home to even have a chance at sharing the title, losing Vick during this stretch increases the odds one of those teams wins. Not to mention Self always seems to drop a game to OSU (2X last year) and already has a L to WV. KU fans have to be stressing.

This is definitely one season where playing both games against KU early - especially the one in AFH - has ended up hurting ISU.

This is definitely one season where playing both games against KU early - especially the one in AFH - has ended up hurting ISU.

That, plus facing Baylor in the one conference game they had Clark.

Should be an interesting finish.

Would not be shocked if he never returned. As others noted, Bill tried to run him off anyway and only brought him back because other recruits fell through.

On that note, this is Self’s 16th season. How much longer does he last? It’ll be hard for KU to not take a step back. Obviously the advent of cheating via shoe companies competing for recruits has helped, but he represents the best era in modern times for KU.

Depends on how you define 'best era' doesn't it? His program has seldom achieved expectations, taken out by killer bees like Bucknell and Bradley along the way. Who can forget Farokhmanesh’s Northern Iowa doing-in the number one seed? Constantly under scrutiny for recruiting tactics. Players declared ineligible. Players, seemingly, always in police trouble. Now an FBI investigation. "Best era" will be defined by history, methinks.

Given they cherish a title under the dirty Larry Brown, a year that faced nearly as much turmoil, I doubt the FBI thing changes the optics of this era. Roy has even worse than exits.

This has been the best era for KU since Phog.

Kansas was 1 game behind with 5 games to go last season and still won the Big 12 by 2 games.

There's still a lot of games to be played.

I feel for the guy. I don't see him coming back. My guess is once he takes care of whatever needs to, he will turn pro.

Vick will be back in a few weeks.
