I would go Lawson POY currently, narrowly over those two. Barry Brown and Makai Mason rounding out the First Team currently.
I agree. Saying Lawson is keeping Kansas in the title race all by himself is only a slight exaggeration. If he wasn’t there Kansas finishes 6th in the league this year.

Approaching the halfway point of the conference season who is the leader in clubhouse? I think it is a three man race at this point between Lawson, Shayok and Culver. You get the feeling the conference champion may also get POY.

I'd agree I think Lawson wins it today. If Iowa State ends KUs run and wins an outright title and Shayok has a few big games down the stretch hes in position to take it. Shayok has scored 14 or more in all but one game this year that's pretty ridiculous.

Agreed. Likely Lawson if season ended today. But UT really put a good game plan together and largely took Lawson out of the game. If other teams can follow that defensive approach (which we did not), maybe he has more struggles down the stretch.

I think Shayok has the kind of game that is difficult to shut down.

Would you trade Shayok for Lawson? I wouldn't.
I would. No slight against Shayok, who has been great on both ends of the floor, but we have depth on the wing.

Lawson would provide another legitamate matchup nightmare at the 4 or 5. He can pass and dribble better than Shayok. He’s a better rebounder. And can generate his own shot in the post, which is something we struggle with at times.

Frontrunners have to be Shayok and Lawson. Lawson gets a nudge because he's 2nd in scoring and 1st in rebound average -- Mariel is 19th in rebounds, although he is top 5 in FG% and FT%.

Next rung below, probably Christian James.

Exactly. Lawson is a monster now with almost no shooters around him. Imagine if Lawson was playing with a team of shooters on the perimeter. You try to double him and would just get burned from 3.
