Heard a lot about this place, haven't checked it out. Anyone been there? What did you think?

They must be doing well as it sounds like they are adding a 2nd metro location somewhere downtown called Smash Park Social. Smaller footprint but will include "Duckpin Bowling".

Been there once it was ok (not really my thing since I don't drink). Seems a lot of corporate outing go on there.

We had a company outing there (that I unfortunately missed). Everyone had a great time. A few guys wanted to join the pickle ball league, but it's all filled already.

Off topic, but me and some friends are wanting to go try out one of the golf simulators around Des Moines. From what I can tell there is Range, Broheims and Backspin. Any better than the others?

Been to all 3 quite a bit. Depends on what you are looking for. I personally like Backspin more. I like the simulators they use and think they give more accurate information in my opinion. Plus they have more courses to select from. Its a smaller place and doesn't have the best atmosphere but still a good time.

If you are looking for atmosphere Broheims is good. Bigger place, better bar, and other things to do like a pool table and shuffleboard. Range uses the same simulators as Broheims. They have really good food and a nice bar but in the simulator area it doesn't have the same loose vibe as the others. Still a nice place though.

They have a couple of places like this in Kansas City. These kinds of places are great to go to in the summer to hang out and drink some beer

Someone else's prediction, but I think it is a good one. This would appear to be a solid landing spot for Smash Park's downtown location. This is the East Village and the same developer owns the former dance club building (i.e...Big Lar's) which also includes the entire block fronting East Court Ave this is currently a parking lot and an empty commercial building.

Beside the fact this area offers both a large building and open space outside (for courts) , it would put it a 1/4 block from Iowa Tap Room, Peace Tree Brewery, and the new 1717 Brewery would be 1/2 block away.
