Maybe part of ours is mine and the wife's sleep schedule. She is a 9pm to bed and up at 5 person. I am a 1 am and up at 7 person, so there is usually only 4 hours that are totally down in our house.
You should trade him in and upgrade. That would probably be part of it. I'm doing about 95% of the night wakings still. The other night Dh was like wow, he slept from midnight to 7? Uh no, he was up from 2-3, didn't you hear that? Nope.
DH or the calf? You should trade him in and upgrade.
DH or the calf?
and assuming he meant DH, what I really don't get is how DH doesn't hear it. Like, that night baby fussed and woke up, I got him and I think I changed his diaper then too. So he was crying a bit during that and DH didn't hear it? JFC, the kid breathes loudly and I wake up. But I can have him on the bed crying 18 inches from DH and he doesn't notice.
Welcome to motherhood. My mom would wake up if we turned on the oven at night to heat something under the broiler. She said she could smell it.and assuming he meant DH, what I really don't get is how DH doesn't hear it. Like, that night baby fussed and woke up, I got him and I think I changed his diaper then too. Mother's instinct.
Actually, though, it amazed me as well. As a teenager and young adult, I used to sleep like a log. When my boys were infants, I would wake up if one of them rolled over or sighed. My ex NEVER heard them. I did all the night stuff. I was basically a zombie for the first couple of months, but I was lucky and they both started "sleeping through the night" (~5 hours) at 2-3 months old.
My sleep patterns didn't improve until they were gone from the house and on their own as adults. For about 10 years I got solid sleep at night. Now...I have old lady sleep patterns.![]()
When our oldest was born, she would start crying at night and I'd get up and the vixen would say, "Where are you going?" I'd say to pick up the baby. She's say, "She's alright. She'll stop in a little bit.
How she knew this totally escaped me. Other times the girls would start the "hungry" cry and she'd get right up.
Part of being a mother, I guess.
Nope, just wakes up frequently. Though not to jinx it, the past week has gotten better. It's possible we've been going through the 4 month regression since Thanksgiving which is where they stop doing as much deep sleep and transition to like REM or something so they wake up more between sleep cycles until they adjust.
Though to be clear, yesterday he woke at like 7am which isn't really "early" for him but since he got to bed later and was up around 1am when we were getting him home and into bed, I was hoping he'd sleep longer. Especially since I was up til 1:30, then again at 4 to feed him so I wanted more sleep. Something like 40% of babies don't sleep through the night until 5 months or older. And experts consider "sleeping through the night" to be six hours, lolololol. Though I did read an article saying that babies who wake more and take longer to sleep through the night are more intelligent. So I'm pretty sure I've got the next Einstein here!
Today's 6:15am was a bit early but he was struggling to fart. IDK when they figure that out but I hope it's soon.
Hey, if you can tell me where that article is (the intelligent one) great. I’ll send to DD and SIL to reassure them about the early little one. She often sleeps on people during the day.
Nope. Not bunk!I used to kinda think that was bunk or especially being able to recognize your own baby's cry among a group of infants. First pickup I did, I walked by the infant room and I'm like hmm that sounds like my baby crying. Get my shoes off and go in.......sure enough, it was mine.
Once in a great while, little man will do the cry that I know he'll sort himself out and stop. But that's like maybe 1/30 times.
And besides - you should know this with your experience with cows & calves...Nope. Not bunk!![]()
