A good sign for other weekend polls. Getting ranked for the first time can create its own adversity as far as how the players handle it, being overconfident, etc. I think that will be minimized by the coaching staff and player leaders, particularly after last season's disappointing conference finish.

Can do nothing but boost the chances of signing offered recruits.

To be fair, there also aren't 43 other teams that have lost to eiu.

I don't know why so many fans expect us to be ranked after the Texas Tech win. It was a home game against an unranked opponent, so it won't move the needle much. Next week's game won't do it either -- unless we lose, which would pretty much guarantee we'd finish the season unranked even if we ran the table the rest of the games.

I've always said the Wichita Eagle top 25 was the most important ranking.
Definitely always have.
