Illustration of the difference between my life and @cowgirl836 's life:

JLH is a contemporary of most of the guys posting the gifs. Most of the cheerleaders and coeds pictured...well, I often remember when they are posted that my eldest daughter is approaching twice the age of some of those girls. I'm not judging anyone, that's just why I don't find those terribly exciting.

I don't have a problem with people posting cheese- (or beef-, KC) cakey images. We need to make sure we aren't taking ourselves too seriously here on the interwebz.

Plenty of "beefy" in my selections..."beefcake", not so much! :D

Only reply thus far to my ticket posting is someone with three posts all of which are interested in tickets. Thinking it is a broker looking for tickets to resell.

Just looked at what insurance was billed by UIHC for MrsWx stent earlier this month. $84k total

Dang. Between little man and I, they rang it up at about $62k.

Put together, you two don't even come close to the bills Lew rang up in the summer of 2017. And he's STILL taking the anti-fungal through December - over $1500 for 22 days' worth on each refill.

I just spent 6 hours trying to find a notary. I went to my office, they're on vacation. I went to 3 banks, 2 of them required me to be a member of the bank and the other was away on maternity leave. I went to 5 UPS stores until I found one that was there but he had a flat tire at lunch so I waited. Then I pull out the document I need notarized and he says "Texas doesn't allow Passport copies to be notarized"

I haven't been this mad in a long time.

After my daughter's surgery we decided to take care of everything this year so I got elective surgery a few weeks ago (no not the same one as @harimad ;)), took care of overdue visits to the eye doctor and dermatologist, etc. as did Mrs. Velo. We have already blown through the family deductible and before we are done will have the out of pocket maxed so we won't even pay "co-insurance". I wouldn't have gotten that surgery taken care of if I had to pay for all of it. I shudder to think how much all of this would have been if we paid book rate for everything like those without insurance.

The only thing I haven't scheduled is the colonoscopy...

Not that it’s super helpful now, but law firms are a great place to find notaries (I might be one of the few attorneys in the office who isn’t). You might get charged for their time, but they would probably do it

Back in 2015 when I had that rock pile back up my kidney & put me in the hospital for four days with sepsis, we followed a similar plan.
I had a bunion on my left foot that made my big toe point west and all but the softest shoes were uncomfortable, so I decided to get it checked. I saw the doc in October, and she recommended surgical repair because my metatarsal was moved out of position also. So I decided to have it done between Christmas & New Years (when I normally took time off anyway) to take advantage of the deductible and out of pocket already being mostly covered.
Then, a couple of days after Thanksgiving I was walking down the stairs and something popped in my right knee, and I went down, HARD. Tore the meniscus in two places. So I ended up having arthroscopic on that on December 11th (the morning after the great shutdown of Jarrod Uthoff and his Hapless Hawkeyes) and then went ahead with the foot surgery on the 30th.
I hear ya on the book rate...
