Rant coming, bear with me...I live in MSP and I can't express how happy I am that we didn't hire that guy. I don't know that we were ever close, but I remember his name being floated for ISU.
The whole "row the boat" thing is so cliche and obnoxious. I can't imagine a player being excited about listening to that crap for 4+ years. "Keep rowing" "keep your oar in the water." The dude talks in motivational phrases without actually saying anything. Also, the fact that Minnesota added oars to their uniforms says to me that he's so damn egotistical that he has to have his "thing" on the uniform. End rant.
I really liked the stories about how he'd hand out Western MI shirts to change the culture on campus, but the fact is he then bolted so really didn't give a **** about the place.
His incoherent post-game rants make me feel like he's the type of guy that tries to flip you some **** to connect with you but is basically just being a d*ck because that's what he is.
CMC tends to ramble a bit and pulls out a few cliches/repeated things ('to be honest with you', 'the reality is'....) but it's not belligerent and pointless.
Their game is on BTN right now...they were up 31-21 with under 6 minutes left. Had NW on a 4th and 10 on their own 25 or so. Amazing.
Something to ponder, and there were obviously other things at play, but can one game totally change the face of a program to a downward angle? 2001 was a pretty standard dominant season for NU football, but they were never the same after the Black Friday game at CO.

That may have come from a Hawk, but I thoroughly enjoy reading the other B1G fanbases giving them the business.

Right. His whole “row the boat” culture is 100% about PJ Fleck and nothing to do with the individual players. If it were, it wouldn’t be transferable to MN. He seems like one of those motivational speakers that are hired for company meetings. They have their “thing” and give it to anyone who will pay. I am absolutely certain he will write and sell a book (if he hasn’t already) about “row the boat.”
Can we get that guy to do play-by-play for us?

I just in the past year have got more active in being informed on teams and conferences other than ISU and the Big 12, so maybe I'm missing something, but why do Nebraska fans hate the Big12 so much? I have never heard of anybody from the Big 12 bagging on the Big 12, but Nebby fans seem like they wouldn't be content in either.
Because the formation of the Big 12, and what necessitated that formation, represents the end of NU has a power program.

They started losing for reasons that have more to do with the changes in college football over the past 25 years, but blamed it on Texas and the Big 12. Now they’re in the Big 10 where everything was going to be right and glorious, and they’re starting to make Ohio St/Michigan the new scapegoats.
It's been the Big 2 forever even when Wisky and Penn State were winning big bowl games so for them to think that would change is pure ignorance.
Should have been a sign that no matter how they created the divisions, the OSU/Mich game would always remain intact. The Legends/Leaders division just looked like keeping those two together, and throwing darts for everyone else.
That was Joel Meyers. That guy was Fox Sports Net College Football before it became third tier after Fox and FS1. He would call FSN's best game of the week. His call of the 2011 Iowa game was awesome too (Joel Klatt was the color commentator back then too).
