Not exactly sure.
60+ years ago I had chicken pox while still in diapers. So, a couple of years ago I got the Zostavax vaccine for shingles. Two weeks ago, acting on the advice of my doctor, I got the first dose of the Shingrix vaccine (a more effective vaccine). I should be doubly covered, right? Right???

So riddle me this - how the hell am I the unlucky SOB who has now been diagnosed with shingles????

On the left side of my back, at the waistband...annoying as all get out. Makes me grateful that I'm retired and don't have to put on clothes unless I'm going somewhere...

First TMI about sitting around naked.

Second, I had an uncle who had chicken pox three times. Just never became immune to it.

Masses question: When you talk about people your age, what range do you consider to be "your age"? Do you say +/- 1, 5, 10? I feel the older you get the range gets a little wider. I use about 7-8 years on either side of my age. Basically someone who wouldn't have kids closer to my age or be closer to the next generation down.

I go about +/-3 or so years. If you were in HS or college around the same time, those are people my age. People not my age are parents going to kindergarten round up with their first child while I am there with my same age child who is 10yrs younger than our oldest (and we had her 6 years after we were married).

I'm not naked. Just wearing a nightshirt. Wearing anything with a waistband is uncomfortable.

I feel ya, KC. I had shingles a few years ago, and for several weeks (!!!!!) I had a nasty, burning rash all the way around my waist. I could not wait to get home and take the pants and jockeys off. It was awful. Hopefully yours won't spread, or last nearly as long as mine did.

My condolences. Shingles sucks. From what I understand the vaccine knocks your probability to about 10%.

Really windy here. Power went out for an extended time f the r only the second time in nearly 21 years at this house. Hope it comes back soon.

On the most recent outage map my section of town is the worst affected area.

5 years. I’m 35, so 30-40 is in my age range.

Essentially people that would have been seniors when I was a freshman down to people that would have been freshmen when I was a senior.

Same general rule goes for dating, though I think it plateaus a little bit. The emotional maturity of a 28 year old woman really isn’t any different than that of a 32 year old woman.

It's kind of funny how this stuff works. I'm 60 and can pretty much get along with anyone. Sure there are some differences due to generations but I've know people that were the same age and yet were completely different generations.
In general to me, once you hit 50 what's the difference.

I take it they have you on some anti viral meds and some prednisone? I hope you don't have them as bad as I did. I swear I can still feel it in my back 18 months later.
I've had it for a couple of weeks now. It's one small patch, about 8-10 bumps in a pattern about the size of a cat paw-print. Yes...I can relate EVERYTHING to cats! Lew made me call the doc yesterday (yay for men everywhere that one of THEM actually said "call the doc"). Doc had me come in this afternoon, took one look & said yup, shingles. Yay me?

I've been using an OTC topical hydro-cortisone ointment on it, and I'm on an antiviral now (unbelievably huge blue pills...gaaack!). No prednisone. I have some pain pills left over from a previous condition, but Ibu has been keeping it under control. It's painful and annoying, but not debilitating.

I don't think my case is anywhere as near as bad as yours - probably thanks to the vaccination 2 years ago. It's just really bizarre timing to get it right at the same time that I got the newer vaccine. :)

DH making supper while I watched tiny dictator. You didn't put butter in the corn, right?

"Nope, *I* remembered."

What about the fish?

".........oops"

I made it almost five days 100% dairy free. Since that's messed up and my 4 week count is back at zero, I had an energy bite (milk chocolate chips) since between no dairy and mostly only getting two meals a day..........I'm probably losing weight faster than I should. Oh well, I'd been thinking I'd try a bit of dairy this weekend as I'm not convinced it's made any difference though it's early.

About the size of a paw print? You are so lucky. If it's been a couple weeks you should be on the downward slide

Went outside to watch the storm come in with tons of lightning. All of a sudden a drone shows up farther down in the neighborhood. Obviously hard to tell height and distance especially at night but he sure looked to be higher than 400 and had to be out of line of sight.

Just curious, did you discover you're lactose intolerant? Sorry for the density, I just don't remember why you had to give up dairy. If I had to, I think I'd die. No butter? Or cheese or milk? Just take me now.
