Not exactly sure.
He's one of those people that actually looks like his bobblehead.

They needed to repair the water main in front of husband's (and my) work, tearing up the whole street for about two blocks. Probably started the week before Memorial Day, JUST laid the asphalt down today. ANYWAY!

Last Tuesday, someone drove right into the construction...all dirt and a sharp dropoff, and didn't stop until they got to the intersection at the far end of the construction zone and couldn't go any further. Luckily missed a bunch of large construction vehicles. Husband said the lady was probably either drunk or high...very unsteady on her feet. (Don't believe she was taken away on a stretcher....so not a medical condition problem)
We live on one of the busier streets through our neighborhood with a 30 MPH speed limit. People regularly go much faster even on the curve right by our house. Last week we had two accidents within half a block of our house.

The first accident someone apparently took the curve too fast and took out the street light right in front of our house. The car continued for another 50 feet or so on our lawn and reentered the street via our driveway. The car must have still been moving very fast because they were leaving rubber marks on the street when back on it. The went another 100 feet or so in the parking lane and swerved at the very last second apparently narrowly missing the only parked car in the lane for two blocks. Of course this was a hit and run accident in the middle of the night.

The second accident someone jumped the curb and rolled their car into and through our neighbor's fence at about 10:30 pm Saturday. When our neighbors saw it the driver was performing a sobriety test very poorly. The fence and yard were totally mangled, luckily they came to a stop before hitting the house.

I should probably be calling our city's PD and point out that we have had two incidents within a week on that curve and ask what they are going to do to try reduce the number of motorists treating it like a grand prix course.

Hopefully that helps you more than it did us.
Our street ran "parallel" to a highway with a reputation as a speed trap. Our street ran due north, the highway curved to the northwest. There was a trailer court at the south end of our street that was only a block from the highway. The north end of our street T'd with the road that had the main access point to the highway on the northern end of town. People were constantly speeding down our street, and many of us had small children. We asked for a speed bump for years. They finally came out and clocked cars to determine the average speed. When calculating that speed, they included all of the vehicles turning in to their driveways. They then assured us that the average speed was 12 mph and we had nothing to worry about.

I've had 8.2 inches of rain at my house in the last four days. All I have to say is i'm glad I live on a hill.
Same here. Problem is, we're trying to level a section of our land, and by the time it's dry enough to get the fill dirt truck in there, they can dump maybe two loads for us to pack down before it gets too wet again. We're watching a lot of fill dirt heading for the creek at the bottom of the hill.

My other funny(ish) accident story...

Our Domino's here is located in a strange spot intersection wise. You can't get to it from the main arterial that runs past it. On top of that, if you're in the main arterial going north past it, you have to negotiate a 30-45 degree curve, plus you're going uphill. So, the Domino's then is located "below" the road.

About 3 years ago, someone came speeding through the stoplight controlled intersection just south of there WAY too fast, couldn't negotiate the curve, (or failed to even try) and launched their car into the Domino's. Damaged about a quarter of the building. Only minor injuries, including a Domino's employee.

And this is why the Ottumwa Domino's was one of the first to be remodeled under that campaign they had two years ago.

Glad to hear your daughter is doing well. When can she start participating in soccer again?

Best of luck to Mrs. Velo. My prayers are with her.
She is down to one crutch in the house but still 2 in public. She should be able to run again in about 3 months but they are saying 9 months at least before she can participate in sports. She is planning to student coach on her school soccer team. They are going to need it since she was the only experienced keeper they had so she is going to have to coach someone up on it. She is also trying to make it to practices and games and stay engaged with her new traveling team so she is part of the team when she can play rather than an outsider coming in.

Is the 9 months due to age? I know the kids around here have been quicker than that. They were junior/senior though.

I don't know. They said that everything is okay earlier than that but contact sports are 9 months if not longer. The physical therapists says that when all is done her injured knee should be stronger than before the injury.

If she isn't more diligent about doing her exercises, using her electro-shock therapy torture device and icing the surgery site it will be longer than expected rather than shorter. It already is a battle.

That's gotta be tough to watch, knowing there isn't anything you can do until mother nature stops being a little *****. It's an unusually rainy time in the Midwest too. I've had trouble trying to get engineers to team up on some of my work projects because they are severely backed up on their own work due to the rain. Not to mention my son was supposed to start micro-league soccer at the beginning of August. He has not played a game yet...
