Yeah, too many people seem to forget who handed the majority of the the money over.
I have no idea how much money the Sukup family donated. I'm sure it is a lot or their name wouldn't be plastered all over the SEZ. But in the end it was the Reiman family that got it started with that $25 million donation.

Recruits talk about facilities all the time. They matter. If they didn't we wouldn't have built the SEZ, there was no overwhelming need for it. But it improves the aesthetics of the stadium and adds seats.

The press box looks weird. It's too small. Is it a deal breaker, obviously not. But every other stadium in the conference has a better one.

I'll say it again since you didn't read the whole thread or you're dense...as part of a whole the press box matters.

If players cared solely about their coaching staffs we'd rent an HS stadium to play in.

They care about facilities they use. You're the dense one.

The players will never step foot in, and will hardly ever even look at the pressbox. They care infinitely more about training/mentoring/nutrition facilities, practice fields, workout/recovery equipment, and the look of their uniforms.

Lolz. Yeah, they don't care about the place where they, you know play games on national TV. I've never seen a recruit post a picture to Twitter of the cafeteria.

I think I do recall a reporter saying years ago ISU's press box is severely undersized and for big games reporters are practically sitting on each other's laps.

Not particularly. The biggest space issues are in the broadcast areas.

I'd love to see it 1/3 or 2/3 the height running goal line to goal line. But, I don't know that it's possible without tearing down the current concession/restroom buildings. I do know that the current project under discussion (NEZ, locker room, academic, cafeteria) is much, much more important to the overall FB program (and other sports too).

Another overlooked point.

When the tower was constructed, the supports lined up just outside the back end of the concession buildings. When the concourse was expanded, the concession buildings were rebuilt much farther out. Now, the tower supports line up with the service windows.

Put one on the East stands and run zip lines to it, or name it the Warren Buffet Pavilion and put a bigger one on the west side. Problem solved.

Is the press box a first priority no but people are full of it if they don’t think the awful press box aesthetics hurts a first impression of the stadium. We finally have a big time stadium and that is great. The press box now looks incredibly out of place. The current project is more important but the press box should be done before to long. With Campbell and the momentum we are building hopefully we will have the resources for it.

Not exactly sure.
Am I alone in seeing 0 problems with the aesthetics of the existing press box? Wtf is wrong with it?

Youre not the only one. Some people just arent content with the size of what they got. Now, if there is not enough room. I can help out, I can find space for reporters.

Does it look out of place? Yes.
Does it matter to anyone who can help us win games? No.

Here's something I haven't seen anyone mention.
More press box equals more shade for those on the east side of the stadium.
