I learned my lesson again today. Took mom in for her Dr appt and went by what she said. Receptionist could not find her appointment, then found it........... for Thursday. I asked mom if she looked at the card before telling me yesterday and she says, it’s august second right? Big sigh.

Internet repair guy coming between 8-12 today. It has just crashed again, would be good if he was here to see it.

They will do anything and everything to just wish the problem away. Seems to be their preferred "repair" option. Mine keep going out intermittently and I kept getting the runaround from the call centers , "Bob" in Pakistan or where ever. Finally called and got a gal in Texas who did some checking and said "this isn't your modem, I'll get someone out to look at this." Service dude found that squirrels had chewed the service line and it would cut out but than shift in the wind and reconnect. Plus, he showed me my service feed record on his little pad thingy and it showed all of the interruptions and low speed occurrences. They had this all of the time but the call center people never even pulled it up to look.

Someone was nice and brought fresh baked bread. I have no idea what it was, but I tried to cut it wrong and poked a small hole in my hand. Thankfully, a band aid is enough for it.

Got about 95% of school shopping done yesterday. For the most part I will buy what the teachers specifically request—like Crayola brand washable markers in classic colors. The washable ones cost about 2x more than just plain old markers. Sometimes things on the list do not exist in the wild, like notebooks with non-perforated pages.

Today we are headed to Rieman Gardens. They have a wind/light art installation right now. Of course we pick the one day in Iowa when gusts are only 6mph. Hopefully they will still be moving some.

The family that originally owned the Runway were super nice people. I think the skin to win stuff may have come after they sold it.

Don and Pat Gustafson are long-time friends of mine, and live just a few blocks away. We socialize with them often, and you're right - they are fantastic people. I actually met them when I was going to Waldorf College in Forest City, they had a place called the Pizza Villa. The college kids hung out there a lot.

My Mom always baked bread, and when it came out of the oven my brother and I would each cut off a heel and slather it about 4 tbsp of butter. Heavenly!!!!!

If you get the chance please take and post some pictures of what the plaza looks like in front of the SEZ. I'm curious what progress they have made since last football season.

I will—it looks a lot different. And it is a little sad that all that parking is gone. :(
