also, the preggo rage is starting early today (ok, mostly exasperated laughing). Trying to scan in stuff for Dh to submit for reimbursement since I literally have nothing to do. Go to printer and it's got a note on it. Cool. I don't realize it's not taped down and open lid to scan and bye bye note. ****, now I've got to go digging behind the printer. Get that. Go to scan my stuff, realize I need a pen to circle things. Find that, do that. Put pen back and I manage to flip it behind a desk thing. Dammit. I somehow baaaaaaaaarely reach it and get it out without getting stuck. Now I'm feeling the burn :p

Scan all my stuff. Get to desk. No emails of scans. WTF, did I do it wrong??? Go back and try again. Still no emails!

Decide to check my spam. There they are! So something has changed that for the first time in eight years, emails from the printer/my email are now going to spam instead of my inbox. That's super duper. Anyway, get those sent to DH. Then I get a good laugh out of someone sending an email saying "sorry for the incontinency the delay may cause". Ok, I'm still laughing.

May be true with you being very prego.

This lines up, had a really slow Friday at work before first, spent time yapping with friends and a long lunch since I had work kind of rapped up for baby.

And yeah I think 10 hours is good on first baby although niece had hers in five.

Only one of five delivered by my main OB. Three by others in office I had seen before, one by emergency room guy in elevator.

I figure it's the nurses you interact with for the most part. I was going to push back on them today if they wanted me to meet with a random Dr though. I have questions for my OB since we would have been scheduling an eviction date and I'd want to know how she handles those.

yesterday my boss was like don't bother coming in if you aren't feeling up to it. Then I feel guilty because I feel fine, just bored. Which of course is what they want at this point because it means I've got things taken care of/delegated out. Think I'll go home at lunch though.

oh and on the baby dropping convo from last weekend - boss says he noticed it too this week. I'm up at least 2x a night now which is a change from last week so I think it's safe to say baby has dropped. And oy, the pressure. But Google says this can happen up to a few weeks ahead of arrival so it doesn't tell me much.

For our first, it was determined that my wife would need to have a C. When the surgery was happening, a nurse came in an said this lady came in in labor and will be birthing soon. Dr told her to slow her down because we were just about done. Dr wrapped up his part in about 20 minutes and rushed out the door and was able to catch half of the delivery. Lady was from the same town and our kids are actually classmates. Probably in labor a couple hours.

Have they taught you how to delay the birth for a couple hours if needed?

I'm trying to picture that poor nurse who had to go back to a woman in active labor and tell her to "slow down". I imagine that went well. And no, they didn't cover that bit in my classes.

Generally they just move everything to the curb.

Yeah, almost whole time is spent with nurses. MIne were all great except first one, ironically named Mona. She didn’t believe me when I said water broke until she tested my underwear. Also was only baby they made me get enema.

If you need an eviction, I am assuming they go gentle nudging first? My dilated to five giant baby, stripping membranes was enough. So that nine pounder delivered with no drugs at all.

I was two weeks late. Didn't make much difference, I was only 10 6 at birth.

I tried telling you last night and you just threatened to shank me.

yeah that's kinda what I had wanted to ask today - if they start straight on pit or try other stuff first. I guess I assumed even if she's not there the whole time, she's still calling the shots on what to do. If nothing by Monday, see where things are at and maybe ask about membranes.

My nine pounder blizzard baby, doctor got stuck in snow on I-235, and it was a holiday. I needed to push for half hour. They just told me to stupid ******* breathe and tried to distract me. He walked in the room and didn’t even have gloves on, I didn’t push but he caught. So I don’t think they have a strategy really on that.

so last night as the storms rolled in, I told DH they were too slow to cause the kind of barometric drop to kick off labor. He's like is that really a thing? I'm like I think so, cows were always having their calves in blizzards. You are a human anecdote and didn't that happen with one of Birdy's kids? I could swear I remember reading that. Or it happened to someone in a Iowa snowstorm a few years back and it was on the news - I remember something about transporting the mom on a snowmobile cause roads were shut down.

Oh barometric pressure is definitely a thing, three of mine in blizzards. I think that actually can also rupture membranes.
