***Official FIFA World Cup 2018 Thread***

Salt in the wounds but Mexico looks like they could do some damage. There are plenty of other teams that will advance I'd rather play than them right now.

Beautiful move on that 2nd goal.

Crazy that México might still get eliminated. Don’t think it will happen, but it’s possible.

Also, very strong chances that Brazil and Germany will face off in the round of 16.

It's Been a GREAT World Cup so far with exciting games daily! At first I was bummed about the USA not making it, but it gave me the opportunity to go to the USA Friendly @ Republic of Ireland on 6/2. Lost the game 2-1 on a goal in the 90th minute but had a blast at the game and in Dublin itself!

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned already yet, it I still find it really peculiar that Spain, Portugal, and Morocco all ended up in the same group. I know it’s common for two European nations to be in a group together and the other is in an entirely different continent and federation, but Spain and Portugal share a peninsula and Morocco is just across the Strait of Gibraltar from both.

It was a curious draw wasn't it. The cultural and historical ties between these nations is strong. In fact, the Moops invaded Spain from present-day Morocco and ruled the Iberian Penninsula (Spain and Portugal) for hundreds of years. Even George Costanza knows about the Moops.

Seriously, pretty crazy they were all drawn together.

Not that I have any love for Iran, but Portugal is playing excessively dirty in this game, and the refs are just letting them do it. Ronaldo throws an elbow that gets VAR. Almost any other player in the world gets a red card on that; Ronaldo gets a yellow. In other cases Portugal is tackling inside the box without review. It’s just been bad.

That Spain Morocco match was a lot of fun. Really wanted to see Portugal go out but I’m not really sure I saw that as a red card. I did get a good laugh at the guy on Fox that didn’t even think it was a yellow though. I think even that moron Lalas agreed.

Glad they got the offside call reversed right in the Spain game, but I really hate video review in soccer. Make the call on the field and leave it at that.

According to some ex-FIFA official, I think Platini, the draws have been rigged for awhile to maximize interest.
