Letting your daughter go to the dark Side? Are you getting her a tattoo next weekend?
I haven't let her yet. I also pointed out the danger of Iowa athletes with mopeds and, to my wife, I pointed out that all those places she thinks are restaurants in campus town are actually bars. It doesn't help that my sister, my nephew, and his husband all graduated from Iowa and she really likes all of them.

Not exactly sure.

Her father should carry more weight than her aunt her cousin and his husband. Besides, just tell her she would be responsible for 1/2 going there, or more if you choose.

Yeah, I'd find out where the cheapest tuition/living expenses would be, and tell her anything over that is her baby. Of course, I'm not sure where ISU would fall.

@WooClone15 - The other people in our tour group at Drake also toured Wooster. I mentioned the bagpipe/kilt tradition and they mentioned something about a tradition of filling a huge arch full of snow. They didn't have any details but can you enlighten me?
Thanks for mentioning me in this, I wouldn't have seen it otherwise! Also, I'm glad to hear pretty much everyone on your tours were great. I know you didn't tour Wooster, but I was a tour guide there and always like to hear when college tour guides/admissions people make a good impression.

So one of our major building on campus is called Kauke hall and has an archway running through the middle (just google image the building, it's gorgeous). There are two doors in the archway that get you into the two different wings. The story goes that originally those were the only two entrances into the building and one of our past presidents said that he would cancel class if we could fill the arch with snow. Well, next time there was a big snow the students took him up on it and did it, and we still do it to this day (even though there are about 18 other entrances into the building).

It sounds cooler than it is, because I always had in my mind the entire arch being filled with snow. It isn't; it's just the part of the arch in front of the doors, but it's still really cool.

Stopped at Evansville Indiana to eat something besides truck stop fast food. You would think I was in Alabama for how some of these rubes talk.

So question... A neighbor has a couple of dogs at least one of which jumps out of their backyard at least once a day and we have even found it in our yard. So jumps out of theirs across one yard and into ours. Once out it generally just roams the neighborhood. We have talked with them and try to get it to go home when we find it out. It is getting old though. Would I be a jerk for calling animal control?

So gr'y then? Iowa State prefers anthracite over gray, much easier to spell. Our trivia shirts this year are grey/gray/anthracite.

Mini rant those gray uniforms in MBB really threw me especially when the other team wore white, walked in after tip and almost cheered for the wrong team. Some ideas suck and ISU wearing gray at home is one of them.

So we survived the 3 college visits in Iowa this weekend and all 3 schools made a really good impression and are probably now the top 3 schools. Unfortunately, ISU seems to be in third.

Drake offers the small class sizes, some really innovative collaboration with local hospitals & Des Moines University, and the city of Des Moines. Also, everybody that we've talked to or presented from Drake has been super nice.

Iowa offers the great opportunities with the hospital & med school, great views above the river, and a fantastic remodel of their library (it's really impressive). I did point out the the dufus kid sitting next to me during the presentation yelled "Go Hawks" at the end of the initial presentation but there was only one of him. To top it off, the tour guide was really personable, from Minnesota, and was friends with the daughter of one of my best friends from high school. It's going to take me a bit to reconcile this information.

Well that didn't go the way we all we're hoping for you. Hopefully she'll pick D+ or the gophers (they do medicine don't they or maybe Wi.)

Nott since it happens repeatedly. Does it present much of a threat to the kids? That response would be much less confrontational than my suggestion to shoot it. Though tapping it with a BB gun might keep it from coming in your yard. My 1st thought was to shoot it with something more powerful than a BB gun.

So during the tv I was watching tonight I was subjected to that skittles pox ad. Seriously one of the worst promotions I've seen. I'd love to be in that ad meeting.

"How should we sell our product?"

"I know let's compare it to contracting an STD."

"Brilliant"

If it were my dog I'd rather have it get picked up by animal control than hit by a car (had that happen, wasn't fun).

Did the car hit kill it or just turn it into a 3 legged wonder? We had a dog that got hit when it was young the vet removed his back leg, lived for at least another decade. We thought it was doing poorly got a new puppy it lived for another 5 yrs. Never did quit chasing cars though. Knew a guy once that had a St. Bernard missing one of it's front legs got along fine.

Saw a video about a german shepherd that only had two legs -- front and back on one side! Then there's this one.

I have never seen it be what I would call aggressive but if it sees another dog it will start running toward it not to be aggressive but to play. My personal opinion is that it would be a great farm dog as it just like to roam and be free. I am just kind of tired of people not being able to walk as they don't know that it is friendly they just see a dog on the loose. The people between our house and theirs have a daughter that is afraid of dogs so at least once that I can remember I have walked her back to her house because she was out playing but this dog got out and was in her yard so she would not go any farther.

Yeah I saw that happen once...I could go for never having to see that again.

We had a farm dog that got run over ny a tractor. They even took her down to ISU vet med for surgery, she kept her leg but it was nonfunctional. Poor dog was named Tippy before the accident, guess she lived up to the name. :) That happened when she was pretty young, she was around for a long time after that. She was a great farm dog but very protective, everyone who came out to our place was scared of her.

Hubby and I were just talking about class action lawsuits. We get stuff in the mail all the time about a Pella window class action claim. We were like, "do you ever really see anything from those?" We did the diamond class action lawsuit years ago. Guess what just showed up in the mail yesterday? Our claim. For a whopping $10.
