I'm good on bail money, but I wouldn't say no to some extra green for a new neck tat.
Sitting on the couch, first time in many months I’ve been on it.
Son is considering making it become a tradition now for college choices. Found out he may have enough college credits entering to make all the ACT, class ranks and GPAs irrelevant. Didn’t know that was an option.

Just don't be like our oldest son. BS & MS at the U-Dub (University of Washington). He is amazingly chauvinistic about his alma mater. He has told his two daughters that they WILL be going to U-Dub. NO discussion. Blerg.
I have left it entirely up to him. I have said what I’m willing to pay and for how long. I have tried to focus on him deciding majors or school size to get a start. I would only be struggling if he chose Iowa. That would be tough, never would wear that clothing. Any other place I’d be fine donning their apparels.
It’s his life and he needs to decide, I may assist, but it’s his final choice.
My ex was faculty & I worked at ISU...older son had been around ISU since he was 5. When he was looking at schools, he asked if it would hurt my feelings if he went to UNI. I just laughed.
I grew up directly across Lake Washington from the U-Dub. I chose Wazzu specifically to get away from my parents. I loved them, but I wanted to have the opportunity to make my own choices, good OR bad...and didn't think I could do that if I was only 10 miles away. Wazzu was on the opposite end of the state. I actually actively encouraged my son to go to UNI.

I will admit that it would have been a struggle for me if he chose U of I. But now he works for UN-L, so he STILL went to the dark side.

Back to the library tonight after a few days off for illness.
Fun time. Got a good plan put together.
Now I can't sleep because I keep putting together good stuff that needs to be typed out before it's lost forever. That first night back is always a tough one for the sleep.

I wish I'd seen it on the big screen with proper sound. I really enjoyed it.
Iowa is a very real possibility for my daughter. I'm working on reconciling that one. Here's what she did to me when she received a packet from Iowa. Can you say nightmares?
What is she drawn towards for a major? If Iowa is actually a top school then it's harder to make a case against it. Nephew has talked about going their for the writing program not sure if he has actually applied.
Tell her anywhere else for undergrad. She can go to med school there later at the Carver College of Medicine*, I don't really consider that part of the Hawkeye evil empire.
* Doctor niece and her hubby's alma mater.
Brings truth to the old statement of I’d rather have a sister in a whoarhouse than a daughter as a Hawkeye.
Have her come to Wisconsin! It's like a prettier version of the University of Iowa and Bucky > Herky! But, if your daughter does go to Iowa, it won't be the worst thing in the world. Because why do we hate Iowa? Sure they're a rival, but a lot of it is because their fans are ********. But considering that she's your daughter, she grew up an Iowa State fan, she'll be an alumna, and she isn't a kid from the chicago suburbs who'll be going back to the Chicago suburbs and so feel that they can be as big of dicks as they want to be, she'll probably be a very nice Iowa fan.
JC, if you're trying this, also try to steer her away from D3 schools. Because I absolutely love and adore Wooster, but the atmosphere can't compare to a big 10 school, so I've also become a big Wisconsin fan.
If she goes to a d3 school and then Iowa, she still may end up an Iowa fan.
JC, my wife and I have friends who had a daughter attended Texas in Austin. She raved about it and her parents said it was a very nice place. If you are considering out of state and a little distance, I've heard good things about it.
