This will show my cheapness. I was at target getting the 90% ground beef. 85 is too fat and 93 was more expensive for what I wanted. I then looked at the price of 85 - way cheap, and 93 - not much more than 90. So I bought a pound of each to make 89 for way less than the 90%. Biggest problem was explaining it to the wife and the reasoning behind it. She doesn’t look at prices, takes the first she sees that is the same she wants.

This is such a thing I would do.

And I get ads with sled dogs urging me to explore Quebec.
They know how much you love Canada.

X Files.
I think Scully is beautiful but I am not a dude. Maybe she doesn’t have big plastic boob pictures.
I haven't watched X-files since Mulder originally left but, if I recall correctly, Scully didn't need plastic.

The price comparison.

Son did this with a gallon of milk for a school project.

Neighboring town has Hy-Vee, Fareway, and Walmart. Even their Hy-Vee was over a dollar less than ours. Lowest was Fareway, followed by Walmart.

Even a high school checker at Fareway can identify a parsnip. Still waiting for one to figure it out at our HyVee.

I almost wonder if HyVee changed their ad system since Fareway will match any sale.

I asked for a pound of deli meat at our HyVee, the scale said 1.72 and dude asks if it is ok if it is “a little” over. I ask for a pound at Fareway, gonna be well within a tenth.
We usually shop Target because it is most convenient and, generally, has the best prices. In our area, Cub is the store that tends to have terrible customer service. The Hy-Five that opened fairly recently isn't super convenient for us but we enjoy going to it. The employees are super friendly and it's almost like going to a party when you visit the store.

Also, I worked at Hy-Five in high school and college and I have no idea what a parsnip looks like.

@jcyclonee let you be the determining factor on this one, whether this gets added to my job list. I just remembered it when talking about hobo days.

I spent a whole day, 10 hours, working as a carnie. So/Jr year (can't remember which) a guy from town asked me if I wanted a job for a short time. I thought it would be a couple hours of medial work so I said yes. Next thing I know, I'm setting up carnival rides for the fair. I didn't know how to get out of that, but thankfully my dad showed up and got mad that I was doing it and pulled me out of it.

BTW, the carnies said they get free room, some board and $10 a day. I knew then that being this:

wasn't me.
Normally, I'd say working less than 10 hours wouldn't count but, it is being a carnie so I absolutely think that counts. I'm thinking your carnie job might be the pizza-in-a-cup guy.

I'm probably in the minority, but I shop Hy-Vee almost exclusively. Ours is huge - well-lit, aisles are wide, they have 12 registers plus the express lines, so hardly ever much of a wait.

As someone who has been in retail for the last 35+ years, I am always impressed by how well they train their employees. I have never had a bad experience with any Hy-Vee employee, plus they will always greet you, giving you a chance to ask a question or start a conversation.
How bad are the roads around Dodge? I was going to visit my parents this weekend. Mom had some really high blood pressure but seems to have it under control after they handled the infection she had. Plus with the fact that I'm sick and we can go in two weeks, I may put it off but want a local's opinion. The deciding factor is if there are any rumors that Tico may close in the next 2 weeks.

I have to haul my six dozen deviled eggs over to church and we got just enough new snow for me to worry about wiping out in the parking lot.

The locals can answer better but just passed a video on FB where a semi got stuck in the 9" of snow that fell. Earlier HWY 20 west of there was closed. I aske my sister how my BIL's trip to Ames was because they were reporting parts of I35 100% snow covered this morning. He hadn't left yet.

Highway 20 is still 100% snow/ice covered, streets in town are OK, although some of the lesser used streets aren't plowed very wide. We got about 10" last night (waiting for @BCClone to chime in on that). No rumors of Tico closing, they are doing a brisk business. I have to go there for @Angie, LMK if you're coming and we can team up.

I used to have an awesome routine on spring/summer Saturday mornings when I Iived in Lincoln. Out of the house around 8, go to the Farmer's Market for 1.5-2 hours...perhaps just to people watch. Head to the outdoor mall on the south side of town to window shop for an hour or so. Then, on to SuperTarget for pantry/frozen staples. (Generally cheaper than HyVee, unless there was a sale) Then, onto HyVee to pick up meat/milk/produce. It was a nice loop to get back to the house. Miss Lincoln's farmer's market a LOT. Big enough to have a great variety of things, small enough to walk the whole thing and not get tired. Plus awesome shops along the way to duck into to take advantage of their A/C if it was a bit too hot. There was a huge, well organized antique shop that I loved.

Can someone explain the hate people have for Ed Sheeran? I feel like he's getting the Nickelback treatment and I'm not getting it. I don't like everything the guy does, but I think he's pretty damn talented.

Is it just cool to hate on him right now?

My wife likes him, that's about all I know. I am still buried in 80/90s rock and a little dance/rap music from then.
