My ex-wifes mom was married thrice, divorced thrice. That was a red flag I missed.

Wife texted me that she found out who our oldest is going to prom with. Found out from the girl. Apparently she asked him. Only other way we would find out is asking in a few weeks, you need a tux for prom and then getting a yes, when do I need to order that?

The last two he wasn't old enough to go so we understood that, but now he's old enough and still had the girl ask. Apparently it was a highly planned ask. She said, So, would you want to go to prom and he said sure. This one is a huge step up from the last, good grades, good family, nice girl, non partier.

Read a book once (the Wolf hunter?) where Stalin sent a guy to track down Hitler at the end of WW2, catches him and then locks him in a cage in a secret wing on the KGB headquarters till he goes insane, that really wasn't a bad ending for him.

PS Promposals are freaking stupid. I'm glad I didn't have to do elaborate crap like that when I was in HS. I just went with my girlfriend at the time.

My current wife is a keeper but if, god forbid, something were to happen, I don't know if I'd get married again.

Trust me, you do not want this neighbor anywhere near a blow torch. A couple of years ago, he sold a pretty new snow thrower to a neighbor because he couldn't get it to stay running. It turns out that the problem was that he didn't ever turn the choke down after it started.

My 10 year old has tried reading the Hobbit and got a little bogged down. I think he'll come back to it eventually but he wanted to read some shorter fun books at the time. I know he wants to read The Lord of The Rings series as well, but I think that should wait a few more years since it's not the easiest read for some adults. He prides himself of reading big books though.

My oldest two were I think 11 and 8 when the movie came out. I thought my younger kids were too young to see it then.

Fortunately I had read and loved the books as a teen so we took our time reading and looking at maps and character charts as we read. When I got done reading out loud, the 11 year old started over again on his own, but that kid was already smarter than me at 11.

The younger one read it all himself in fifth grade and did a huge project on it for school.

By now all of my kids have even read The Silmarillion and I could never slug my way through that.

I have not seen it either, and have no desire to ever watch it. I have seen all the Star Wars movies (except The Last Jedi because no one will take me, the oldest two and hubby went to see it). The 12yr old is a little SW obsessed.

Kinda in the same boat, I wouldn't mind going to it, but the kids that would go have seen it and the wife would never sit through it. She still says the only movie she ever walked out on was return of the jedi.
