He tells them stories about how he fought for the north to free the slaves. The resonates well with young African American players. Tells people about how when he came to Ames and was coaching at Iowa, he saw a Young Jack Trice and knew he would be special.
I guess I never thought about this but Jack Trice played/died in 1923 so Snyder did coach against him. Whoa crazy connections. And how many other coaches can claim that they now coach in a stadium named after a player they coached against?

Everybody has to start somewhere, but agree that his lack of experience makes it somewhat of a surprising hire. Have to trust CMC's comment that he is a young, up and coming coach.
I'm glad CMC hired a young energetic guy. With such a stable coaching staff, it should make his transition easy. I think his age and playing experience will be an asset in recruiting.
Sorry, can't give you a "Funny" or "Like" on this just yet, still too recent to have gotten over losing out on an NCAA record due to incompetence of the officials.
I would think that the ISU RB coach position would be one that many coaches looking to catch a program on the rise would covet. Being the potential of the players (DM) and staff garnering praise and awards I would think MC had a good selection of potential candidates. If Nate is the best fit of a good pool of candidates then I'm excited to see what he can do.
Coaches cross train each other all the time so it's not that uncommon for coaches to swithc to related position groups. QB's and RB often work together in small drill exercises because they both carry the ball at a high percentage. Also, I imagine he is close with Golesh considering Alex came here from Illinois two years ago.
Hopefully he doesn't have to get banned from JTS like he was when his son played at Illinois.
