Bowl Game Projections

we should so we dont have to play some joke of a memphis team in their home town with home cookin refs. Turn it down play Pac 12 team in a warm sunny Arizona
We are in no position to turn down a bowl bid...not to mention you don’t don’t get a good rep for your school. Besides with more bowl eligible teams than openings, you open yourself to the slim possibility that ISU gets left out....

I get the home field advantage part of not wanting to play Memphis, but Id have to imagine Memphis would be pretty unmotivated with a bowl game that they don't get to travel to after the season they had.

That being said, it would be a pretty meh matchup for me. Id much rather play a P5 team.

I hope one of you makes a spreadsheet of the various predictions. And then reports back on who was most accurate. Has this been done in the past? If so, it might help us know who to pay attention to.

They're all just throwing **** at the wall and seeing what sticks. TCU to NY6 controls everything Big 12 related.

Two differences:

1. Not many Iowa State fans went to Boise. Lots could go to Memphis.

2. Different coach, different attitude.

Also a bunch of players were ruled academically ineligible the day of the game (getting off the bus even if I remember correctly).

For everyone who does not mind us going to the Liberty Bowl to play Memphis, recall the last time this happened. We played Boise State in Boise and the outcome was not good. It was a home game for Boise just like the Liberty Bowl would be a home game for Memphis.
We also lost 6 of previous 7 going into that game so I’m kinda a believer we play anyone in a bowl that year and lose.

Smurf Bowl, worst bowl game ever. Memphis/Memphis would be nearly as bad and a huge kick in the nuts.

Pretty much agree, but what are you going to do about it?

If you were AD, would you turn down the offer and risk not going anywhere?

As long as you're fine being screwed for every bowl game in the future because the program that has a longer drought than everyone not named Kansas is too good for a certain bowl.

If he turned down Liberty, Jamie should lose his job. He won't, but in the event he did we should have a new AD.

Recall the last trip to Memphis. It was a joke how many Tulsa fans were there and it was essentially a home game for us. All week long in Memphis we talked trash about how there were so many more Iowa State fans and "where are all the Tulsa fans". We all know how that turned out...

Yes, the people ******** about Memphis/Liberty/Memphis should remember everyone on the site was hoping and praying for ANY bowl this year.

Remember 2000 when we bumped TaMu for the Insight dot com bowl and they got sent to Shreveport to play in that dump? And it snowed like a MF during their game?

Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes you're the hydrant. This year the Big XII may make us the hydrant.

We jumped Missouri in 2009 as well IIRC.

A 4 loss ND team is not going to jump TCU for the 12th slot...It is a matter of if TCU doesnt get passed by Washington which would be a joke. TCU played the 13th game right? I just don’t see an argument for Washington getting past TCU...

I didn't read through all of this, so sorry if it's been stated already, but is there an official time the bowl will be announced?

I want a winnable bowl game, playing ND in Orlando isnt one of those IMO. ND would run on us all damn day. Memphis would be cool since its driveable.

You really believe we couldn't beat ND? Beating OU on their home field, and beating TCU as well, doesn't make you think we have a chance against the almighty ND? Not me. I think we can beat them.
