Coaching Carousel

OH I agree. I think he would get run out of town at Nebraska unless he won the B1G West within the first two years. Which probably wouldn't happen. Leach needs an AD and a fanbase who is patient, realistic, and knows it takes more than a year to create a real winner. Leach is a fantastic coach, but he's not a guy that immediately starts bringing it superstar talent and can flip a program overnight. His system takes a while.

Yeah. Patience is not something I associate with Nebraska or Tennessee. I can't imagine them waiting three or four years for him to recruit and develop players for his system.

It sounds like WSU offered Leach a contract extension earlier this week but he was pretty underwhelmed by it, and that's why he was talking with Tennessee. Even if he's not leaving for Knoxville he might be keeping an eye out for other jobs. It'd be a shame if they lowballed him and he left over that. I think he's in a perfect spot right now.

With a not so unexpected change to the coaching carousel Jimbo Fisher goes to aTm opening up arguably the biggest job this season in FSU

That's four big openings...you usually don't see the mid-major coaches getting one of these (unless you are Frost for Nebby). Look for some additional Power 5 poaching to take place...

Lane Kiffin is going to be in the mix as well. Possibly Charlie Strong, too. They've both executed some fast turnarounds at their current schools.

Frost already told FSU thanks but no thanks. Sad as it is, he will be at Nebraska.

FSU is going to hire Willie Taggert from Oregon. That leaves that job open for somebody.

Huge mistake by Frost if he goes to Nebby. He's not going to be able to get the recruits he needs to run an Oregon-style system there. Not to mention the unrealistic fan expectations.

I agree that the Nebraska job is a boner kill but these guys have huge ego's and pride so, have at em Tiger. Will be funny to watch them have to fire Frost after he doesn't win a National Title after year 2.

Is there any link showing Frost turned down FSU? Not saying it didn't happen, just curious if anyone has seen proof a convo took place.

It's interesting seeing these "Coaching Carousels" year in and year out. It is to the point where I can only think of a few schools off the top of my head that have a tenured coach. Everyone seems to be looking for that quick fix. I guess why work hard to climb out of the hole when you can just buy a ladder, but if it's a broken ladder you are back to square one. Recruits have to be committing to schools with the knowledge that there will probably be a coaching change while they are there. Thankfully we look to be in a great situation where we are doing it the right way. That should ease the minds of current and potential recruits.

Is your avatar the old "stick it where it itches" comic that was in the Daily way back from when Hayden Fry made the "scratch where it itches" remark?

People are stalking Jimbo's Christmas tree, Vol fans and Phil Fulmer aren't allowing hires, Arkansas conducting coach search without an AD, Ole Miss on probation, LSU hired a coach because of an accent. You got to love Southern football

Bruce Feldman brought up a couple things.
What happens if Schiano takes UT to court and John Currie is called to the stand? Would he be on Greg's side?
Kiffin has Kendall Briles as his OC and I guess that even though they have a great offense, that's still a tough package hire at a big school.

Probably won't happen, but FSU should go after Leach. If Taggart goes to FSU, then Leach should be Oregon's first call.

Not sure what's in Currie's best interest legally, but if I were him I'd want to be on Schiano's side. He had his guy lined up, had that decision railroaded by the fans, which set off a frenzy that eventually cost him his job.
