Wilton Speight Transferring From Michigan

Not sure we could get a better add for depth, he's struggled but to be fair, he's never played for this coaching staff. We've played 4 QB's this year, if Park weren't back, we'd be relying on RS and true frosh for that depth.

If you can't hack it as even a game manager with Michigan talent, no thanks.

I saw him play sparingly but he looked more cross eyed than Harbaugh in crucial moments.

Well he lead Michigan to their best season in a decade last year and he played from the Iowa game on injured. Then he was mediocre this year but his line was awful and he was limited to freshmen and sophomores to throw to. He's not a great QB, but he's been fine.

Would he even consider going somewhere to be a backup QB? Seems like as a Grad transfer he'd be wanting something near a guaranteed starting position.

I don't think guys who have been two year starters are going to look at ISU and immediately rule themselves out if Park isn't here.

If Park is questionable...Yes, please..

He’s not bad. Imo if he doesn’t get injured Michigan beats MSU and Ohio State (or if Peters was playing). O’Korn plays like a freshman, and was awful for a senior.

Michigan also has another transfer candidate Qb that I’d love to have if Park is questionable.

You would think a place like Michigan would have all capable qbs on the roster, but apparently not.
You'd think that all it would take to land a top-of-the-line QB at Michigan would be to put a picture of Tom Brady and Giselle up for his recruiting visit.

"Oh, that picture? It's really nothing. It's just, maybe, the greatest quarterback ever and his wife, the most successful supermodel ever."

I think we should focus on Noland and hope he can play 3 productive years for us

Yeah, I agree in that I think Noland is the starter next year. But if you assume Park isn't coming back (not saying he isn't...like everyone else, I have no idea), then by standing pat then next season they go into the season with Noland, redshirt freshman Devon Moore who spent all of 2017 rehabbing from a knee injury, and true freshman Re'al Mitchell.

I'm not knocking Moore or Mitchell, but it would be nice to have an experienced one or two year stopgap who can push Noland and provide some insurance.

But it mostly depends on what happens with Park. If he comes back then they're fine. If he doesn't then I think they'll look to add a juco or grad transfer, preferably a grad transfer with some PT at a P5 school under his belt.

Gopher have no QB for 2018 unless they get the duel threat JC kid they are supposedly after. Their QB just quit to transfer, not that he was any good but he was the starter.

Noland and Mitchell will be quality backups to Park next year.

I'd think he'd want some assurance that he'd be the starter but I guess if he'd be happy just coming in and getting the chance to compete for the starting spot and if Noland wins then we'd have a pretty experienced backup.

Yeah, I get what you mean. But I don't think the staff does much in the way of promising a spot to anyone. If they were to bring in another QB to compete and provide depth I'd expect Noland to embrace the challenge and win the job outright instead of getting it by virtue of being the only guy in the QB room with any experience.

Apparently ISU fans have been too spoiled by proven QB's the staff has brought in like Jacob Park and Kyle Kempt to entertain Speight coming here. I mean sure Speight started for Michigan but Park dominated his flag football league and Kempt was the top scout team QB in the Kansas juco league.
