Coaching Carousel

Well this guy thinks the Sandusky link is garbage.

–McQueary never even claimed to have spoken to Schiano about him supposedly having knowledge of Sandusky’s abuse. They didn’t even coach together during remotely the same time period.

–Schiano stopped coaching at Penn State in 1995. The first documented episode where anyone at all was ever notified of any allegation against Sandusky was in 1998 and that was fully investigated by the district attorney and, quite correctly, was dismissed without any charges.

I guess this is the price you pay for being a perceived mediocre coach getting hired at a school with fans who have unrealistic expectations. Who cares if there's nothing pointing to Schiano being involved in the cover up of the Sandusky mess? He coached at Penn State in the 90s so hes guilty! This is beyond ridiculous.

The fans just didn't want Schiano and used this to pour gas on the fire. John Gruden could have been in the shower with Sandusky and they wouldn't have brought it up.

At some point Mike Leach will get poached.
Wonder if one of these SEC teams makes a run at Gundy. He knows how to recruit Texas. If I’m aTm, I call him.

Here's the thing. All these 'debunkings' of the charges ive seen try to hold it to a courtroom-level. That's not what things like this have ever been held to. The court of public opinion is different than the court of law.

The fact is, this is but one of several character issues that have been out there, which doesn't really give benefit of the doubt.

Ultimately, the head football coach is the chief face of any major university, and its highest paid employee. It would be absolutely stupid to go forward with that hire on a 'well, he might be innocent'. There are so many options that would be a much better face for a university.

And its not like his resume was anything special either to justify taking a risk anyway.

The A&M rumor I just saw online was Jimbo.... That would add FSU to the carousel

That's been widely circulating for a while. Can't wait for Jimbo to get what he wants (facilities) at FSU and to see him give A&M the middle finger. They'll probably end up with SMU's coach or someone less regarded than that.

This Tennessee vacancy just got a lot tougher to fill. The fans seem way too crazy and the AD looks like they don't know what they're doing. Be careful what you wish for Vol fans.

Exactly my thoughts too. Tennessee will now have to get creative in finding the next coach....what self respecting coach would want the job after that public relations disaster?

A&M is stupid if they do that...Sumiln has a better SEC record than that of FSU the last 3 years...and the ACC isn't the SEC.

But that's A&M for you...

God bless them...but they do have a ton of cash...to throw away.
