Its almost like KU set out to piss him off and off his game. Where are the OU coaches to get him to stop his actions during the game. Where are the KU coaches to get their players to not act they way they did.

After seeing that hit, I can understand him being ticked off. After listening to him run his mouth in interviews, I can see why he's a target.
Was the KU player penalized after that hit? He should have been.
Was Mayfield hit with an unsportsmanlike on the sideline? He should have been. I seem to recall Anthony Lazard picking up one for shouting an expletive at an opponent from the sidelines. Mayfield does it multiple times, in full view? Provoked or not, at the very least a coach should have been chasing after him.
I dunno...I guess it makes football more entertaining to some.

If he is a leader he should stop with the gestures and yelling at opposing fans - be better and bigger than the opposition - prove it on the scoreboard. Can't wait to see his meltdown when he washes out in the NFL.

Guys, this is who Mayfield is. He plays with a chip on his shoulder, he plays like a spoiled arrogant prick, that's what gets him going. His teammates respond and he plays at a high-level. You either love the swagger or you don't.

That's the viscous hit - didn't even knock him down - typical on both sides KU can't knock over a defenseless QB and Mayfield being offended.
So, the end justifies the means? Clearly, sportsmanship and class are dead in your arena.
I assumed he spent the pregame doing stuff like this and they said 'we don't need to pretend we respect him before the game', but yeah, that is a good question. Reaction to something? Or just attempt to psych him out?

I think there's a fine line between swagger and arrogance and Baker Mayfield crossed it a long time ago. Barring a major attitude change he'll flame out in the NFL in two or three years.
I think he has a little bit stronger arm than Manziel but the overall attitude and disposition of the two is very similar. I read a column the other day that attempted to compare Mayfield to Drew Brees when he was at Purdue. I about did a spit take when I read that. Brees was incredibly smart and a grinder and he had the respect of everyone on that team. I don't know if you could say the same for Mayfield.

He’s much more talented than Manziel. It’s not even close. Imagine Baker having Mike Evans to throw it up to every time he scrambles.

I didn't think it was possible for Kansas football to be more embarrassing than they already are but they managed to pulled it off yesterday. Refusing to shake hands with a guy to start the game to show your teammates that you came to play and to get in a hothead's head is the most bush league middle school garbage I have seen in some time. So childish. It's a shame that it didn't cross their minds that a good way to show your teammates that you're here to play is to block someone, complete a pass, tackle an ball carrier or cover a receiver. That the player who did this was Joe Dineen, who otherwise has been one of the great ambassadors for KU, is beyond mind boggling and yet another example of how far off the rails the program has run with Beaty driving the train. Ridiculous.
I think I was almost more appalled by how (it appears) they had told the kid captains to not shake his hand either. They didn't even flinch when Baker put his hand out. Good lesson for those kids, KU
