I saw someone hint too that it might be tied to shoe companies trying to steer players a certain way and that an exec from Adidas might be in trouble.

I think sometimes fans don't know or don't understand how involved the shoe companies are with players from a very early age.
I've posted this story on here before that I heard from an insider but it's been a while. 17-18 years ago, ISU was in on a big-time recruit. An Adidas rep told LE he could deliver this recruit if ISU signed a shoe deal with Adidas. LE told him to go **** himself. That recruit ended up at Auburn and later had a 10 year NBA career. He also got his ass kicked by the Cyclones in the 2000 NCAA tourney.

The NCAA is going to be sorry when they learn the FBI isn't punishing the NAIA for this ****. Karma

Yeah, Oregon, while rising quickly, didn't have an obvious recruiting bubble. A team like them cheating looks like Ole Miss. Oregon has a lot of money and really good football coaches with a great marketing strategy. Oh, and that one football coach was on the cutting edge of offense before anyone knew how the hell to stop his attack.

Not that they haven't cheated. I just think you make a case for natural building there. Ole Miss, you couldn't.
Oregon tho- also look at their bball recruiting on the uptick. If you think Nike isn't helping them get guys...well I don't know

Jake Sullivan was on with CW today talking about this. I had heard his AAU Nike story before when he committed to ISU, but hadn't heard his story about Nike approaching him at Kingdom Hoops to sponsor him. I have so much more respect for him (and I had a lot of respect for him and his story before this) for turning them down and saying that he wants to always remain independent so that he is not beholden to any shoe company. When he was talking about wanting to make sure that Kingdom Hoops would always be able to help all kids, from potential NAIA to D1 players, it was a breath of fresh air.

How many NFL players are taking bribes on the side? Would it completely get rid of cheating, no, but it would get rid of the vast majority of the problem.

See Amendments 18 and 21 to the US Constitution to see proof of what happens when you make something illegal that people will do anyway.

98% sure we were an Adidas school for basketball while LE coached.

Auburn appeared to be Nike in 2000.

18,13, 21, 19, 23.

That's their last 5 years rankings. I mean, yeah, maybe but that's hardly infallible proof for one of the "cooler" options in the country that has had success relatively close to ours. Again, nothing like Ole Miss, Baylor, or UNLV. I wouldn't be shocked at all if they were busted, I'm just saying that their recruiting results in itself isn't something obscene. If we pulled in 5 straight top 25 classes would you think something was going down? Did you think something was going down last year? I doubt it and there are a lot of things that Oregon has going for it that we don't.

Lamont Evans (guy arrested from Okie State) has strong ties to Frank Martin and Kansas State.

@surly any concerns in wildcat land? I've heard from multiple folks landing Beasley/Walker back in the day may not have been "clean"
