High school girls are a little scary for me, but maybe because I'm just around boys. I actually wish one of them would come home with a nervous one for a change. They are much more assertive than teenage me. We must have about a dozen prom pictures around here, and only once did one of my sons do the asking.
High school girls frighten me. I don't think my daughter is too bad but a lot of them are devious and downright mean.

Social media appears to bring out their worst, high school guidance counselor and vice principal are always dealing with social media bullying by the girls.

It seems like there's little in-between with girls. They're either very nice or very mean.

For the most part, I find that all high school boys are just kind of dumb. Not in the book sense but in the "I have no idea what's actually going on around me" sense.

@BCClone - How's your son handling things?

Rough, but probably as well as possible. He had amazing stability in his knee for the he injury, was working out and everything. Tuesday we saw the specialist, he made the decision to have surgery. So Wednesday in Ames, his junior year athletically comes to an end. June 1 is his return day.

Yep. Mine are completely out of any gossip kind of loop and unaware of most that does not personally affect them. Girls seem to be all up in everyone's business. Boys have some friends in Creston from various sports but were unaware of the brouhaha there until I asked them if they talked about it at school.

I guess the good news is that he should be fully healed for his senior year and the big break dancing competition.

As frustrating as it can be for myself and my wife, the naivety is somewhat refreshing. It's also very much similar to me until late in my junior year so, for better or worse, he seems to be turning into his dad. God help him.

When my middle daughter Alana was in high school, she rarely went on dates, and never had a steady boyfriend. (She's not unattractive.) So I finally asked her if she ever got asked out. She said "Sure", and so I asked why she didn't ever go. She gives me this look and says, "Dad, they're all morons". And after thinking about it, I realized she was right.
