Is your mom's health good enough that you have a babysitter?
About a year before my mom died, she came to live with us. My oldest was 10 and I was at that stage where I was trying to decide if I could run to the store or something and just have to haul along the little kids and leave him in charge of the older ones. It was a good way to check that out. He and my mom sort of babysat each other.
Craigs List can be pretty weird. Listed a couple of vintage outboard motors that I brought back from Iowa. Thought they would sell better in lake country then in NE Iowa. Listed for a month with nothing but crank inquiries and unsolicited comments and then all of a sudden yesterday a flurry of serious inquires from respectable sounding folks for both the 1948 Goodyear Sea Bee and the 1955 Johnson Sea Horse. Sold the Sea Bee yesterday. I figured someone would want it as a vintage display, it's a petite little 1 1/2 hp. Nope, guy wants to fix it up to run it on his little sailboat. A 70 year old motor would not be my first choice but what do I know.

Mom is in good health. She's only 61. She does get on my nerves, though, so we'll need a larger house so she can be on the other side. Having Davey Tree come take out big white cedar branch that is the way of a fence job. It's branched out only a few feet off the ground but grows back into the neighbors phone line and is kinda of big at near one foot dia for a hand saw. Amatuer boy don't mess with chain saws. That's hire it out stuff. People who just go buy or rent a chainsaw and don't operate them all of the time are idiots, IMHO.
Minimum $180 for Davey and this will fall into that. They do it safely and haul everything away (plus hit some minor pruning I can point out and still stay within their minimum. This opposed to my friends DIY ash tree cutting last year. Fall from his ladder broke his ankle (screws/plates to fix). After the ER and other medical bills and not even being able to drive himslef around I am guessing he did not save much money! BTW, I did remind him that I had previously called him an idiot for doing a similar tree removal job on his lot. And next time he needs to do tree work I am guessing he AGAIN will do it himself.

The art of good advice and knowledge being ignored is a valuable and costly one. Glad to see another who has that gift.
If you're going to do tree work yourself, at least have someone help you that has experience. Most of the reason why I was there. I hate ladders, even just going up one step. We rarely use a ladder to cut anything. My mom's friend's dad has a lift, so we used that today.
Having an open house tomorrow, but already had one family come look and said they wil be making an offer. Only second day of listing! And we still don't have a house to move into...
Ladders are the devil! I did learn something from roof repair guy last year. He coached me (advice from his granddad or something) to never step up from a ladder step onto a roof. Go up level or above and step across or down from the ladder step.. Even old dogs can learn new tricks.

My bike ride weather curse is still alive. Haven't felt well enough to ride much the last month so of course I ride today and thunderstorms generate locally and I get rained out mid-ride. Cold and wet it was. ****.
Did share shelter under a park kiosk with a nice couple with the sweetest little dog who took a liking to Boxster. Cute little Chihuahua dachshund mix. Dachshund sized but with longer legs.

We rode 26 miles this morning and early afternoon. Barely got a sprinkle in the late afternoon here in Maple Grove. If I get nothing out else out of this trip... damn I am envious if your trail system.
