It's one of those jobs that is 99.99% boredom and .01% pretty scary. So they listen to all the dumb conversations around them. And by far the largest age group that shows up is middle school kids. Too young for jobs of their own, too old for the parents to pay for babysitter. They get the adult scuttlebutt around town if they are on duty at night, weekends, or the one guard on duty during water aerobics. They say by far the most attractive girls there are the female lifeguards.

Did our 75 minute class workout this morning. That was a lot of fun, and I couldn't have done it as recently as Wednesday or Thursday.

Going to go check out the running tonight. Aiming for a mile without stopping, and hoping for more. We shall see what happens, but it's going to be fun!

Hey @wxman1, how was EAA? I'm hoping/assuming I won't be seeing you next week in jail?

Also, applying for jobs is not fun

Also Also, I won my first trial on Tuesday! I hope everyone else here has been good

It was an awesome week! It is sounding like the attendance is going to be considerably higher than normal. Hopefully it keeps up and is not just due to the Blue Angels being there.

I come across one guy riding a moped that would never have passed a sobriety test at the time.

My brothers and uncles are riding with some Wisconsinite Cyclones. The whole thing seems s bit too crazy (and crowded) for me. My hometown was an overnight this year and my parents had 30+ ppl at their house.

I hope they enjoyed hosting. People who do that are the ones that make the whole thing work.

Watching the old movie Monkey Business. Only Cary Grant and Marilyn Monroe in 1952 could get away with this corny dialogue. While starting up a MG-TD (Boxster loves old MG's) :

Barnaby: All set. Is you motor running?
Lois Laurel: Is yours?
Barnaby: Takes while to warm up.
Lois Laurel: Does, me too.

And Ginger Rogers is in the movie too.

PS: Also been drinking a bunch ole French rose wine. I might be partily Rum Brooklyn'd

Ragbrai 2017 finito. Was done by 11am started at 6. Yellow river state park is gorgeous, it is on my list of places to go back to. There are some damn long hills in NE Ia. Harpers Ferry fire dept. served an awesome fish fry. It was some beautiful country that it went thru. I'll do a trip summary later.

It is a hidden gem. What was your top speed going down that hill?

Also Yellow River Forest mention gave me a flashback to camping with CWW#1 and sis and BL in 1976 (the big 200 year 4th of July4). Young Boxster had a profane confrontation with a bunch of noisy bikers at at like 2 or 3 a.m. Lost my mind and told them to stop shooting off fireworks so rest of the camper could get some sleep. It's a miracle I didn't get killed but when I am tired and stressed and pissed I kinda lose my mind. o_O

Mid 30's it was fast enough with other riders and not knowing the hill. I don't know how fast you could go if you knew things. @VeloClone can probably give a better report on that. We did a long beautiful hill that ran a long a bluff going into Decorah, That hill might have been the chance for top speeds but when I took it there wasn't enough room in the center (too crowded) and I was afraid to go all the way to the left and run the edge (not enough room and the really fast bikers were taking that line). That Decorah bluff had less experienced riders riding their brakes too much. The next day they either had it figured out or I was with a different type of rider.

CF keeps getting blocked on my ipad, and reading on my phone is slow.

Had my first Chaser-type delivery. Got a package in the mail that I could not remember ordering anything recently. Open up and the order was placed 5/8. Pulled up tracking info and it made it to Ames 5/12 UPS then USPS surepost. Somehow it got lost/misplaced at the PO in Ames. Two months later it ended up getting sent to Ottumwa then Oskaloosa then back to DSM and Ames.

Okay, now can't even use my phone as the tab has crashed twice while typing. Have volleyball camp and company this week, then HS volleyball starts the 7th. Summer is just about over. Put all the back-to-school events on the calendar. Freshman orientation, 6th grade parent night, elementary back to school, and preschool parent meeting. Got about all grades covered . . .

Was he wearing a Hawkeye t-shirt?
