Well, GF is doing better than I thought. Still absolutely terrible, but holding it together for the most part. Which helps me.

We gave Ed plenty of scratches, bought him a new frisbee and had plenty of playtime, she fed him a couple of his favorite BK Rodeo Jr. sandwiches and an ice cream sundae (that the employees kindly gave her when she pulled up in tears) when she got home early today, he got to destroy some bubble wrap, we fed him steak for dinner, went for a nice walk, and now she's cuddling with him in bed.

I can only hope my last full day is as good. Tomorrow is going to be rough.

Had the 20 week ultrasound today for LittlerWx. Everything looks great and we find out the gender on Saturday. A few weeks ago she did some genetic testing thing and that came back very slightly elevated so now we get to go to the diamond in the death star tomorrow to make sure everything is okay.

Wanted to like did not want to be misinterpreted. Congrats on the ultrasound. Good luck on the testing tomorrow.

Good luck, hoping for good news. We never did any of the extra testing even though I was considered "advanced maternal age" for our last two. There always seems to be some chance of false positives.

On an aside, our OB (and he was rev's, too) was Air Force. He stilled served in the Air National Guard, one time when he checked on us in the hospital after baby he was in his jumpsuit under his lab coat.

It's pretty much going to rain the rest of the month. ******* monsoons.
Agreed. We had a soccer game scheduled last night. Just as soon as we started warming up the sky just opened up. MYSA rules state that only the ref can call the game on account of lightning. The ref was working the game before ours. We had one parent come over pissed and yelling in front of all the girls that this was ridiculous. We get it, but we have to be prepared to play the game until it is officially called. He took his girls early. Ultimately they finally saw lightning and called the previous game just before full time. Mercifully, he called ours rather than making us wait around for half an hour in our cars to see if that giant red cell on the radar was going to dissipate.

We were so wet I literally rung out my underwear...

Parents have an uncanny knack of taking the fun out of youth sports, don't they?

As miserable and messy as it sometimes is, I love watching rainy soccer games (as long as lightning isn't involved of course). The game is usually a mess, but the kids have a blast. Those are the games where nearly every kid on that field is having a good time. Their happiness is infectious to me.

That is a huge issue in sports and isn't just limited to youth sports. The ref's attention is supposed to be on the game but you can't focus on the game if you are also trying to keep an eye on the sky. It is somewhat surprising and probably only a matter of time before something tragic happens in a situation like this.

I've done that last sentence before, you know you're wet when you wring out your drawers and socks that were in 8" boots.

They went back and forth on softball practice last night (had indoor and outdoor options lined up) and right after they decided to go ahead and have outdoor practice the storms were rolling in. Figured they tried to get some practice in during the breaks in rain. Hubby texted me about 4:15 and said the cell with straight line winds had just passed through West DSM and was headed our way. Our sirens went off about 4:45. Daughter called and said they were hanging out for a bit and coach would bring her home. Found out after she got home that they had moved practice inside right away and just went over procedures and signs and handed out uniforms. Made me feel a little better!

One of the downfalls of being an 8th grader playing HS is she is one of the few without their own transportation. One night they were done early, I left as soon as she texted, and she was the only one there sitting with coach when I got there. She needs to make friends with some of the upperclassmen who live in the neighborhood.

I think it is your turn for smooth sailing, so fingers crossed.

I am so old. Even though ultrasounds were common with my first two boys, I didn't have them because my doctor didn't think they were medically necessary. I had a miscarriage at 10 weeks on my third pregnancy, which he then decided made them medically necessary from then on out, although never found out the gender. At some point, you just assume it's a boy.

It all worked out but I always scratch my head at situations like that. I follow my old HS soccer team on Twitter and they did the same thing. Started inside and then went outside around 4:45-5. They probably got an hour in but they also had a JV game at the stadium on the SW side of town and stopped that one when the sirens went off and the storm was probably less than 10 miles from them at the time. In both situations (especially the game that they knew was going to be affected) it was guaranteed they were going to get hit. Why wait until the last possible second?

Thankfully on this one her blood pressure has been great so she has not been high risk. With LittleWx She had almost twice as many as normal due to being on the edge of preeclampsia.

Our school was small enough, all of the 8th graders played high school. We used to have a lot of pitcher/catcher only practices. If she is still catching, she will probably get to know those girls fairly soon.

Thought of you guys during the last episode of Blackish this season. Not sure if you watch it, I don't think I have ever seen a preeclampsia sitcom birth before.

My sister has a lot of unwarranted phobias, but one I don't begrudge her is how nuts she goes about any sporting event in poor weather. She was sitting in the car with her son, about to drop him off for a baseball game before she went to park the car in suburban Chicago and they saw a boy get struck by lightning. It was a freak thing, the sun was out but they could see clouds.

Her mosquito phobia is hard to deal with, but she had a friend die of encephalitis from a mosquito.
