I know this whole situation is tough for the wrestlers and the coaches. I think all the fans appreciate the effort and sacrifice these kids go through. Making weight and practicing while going to school is amazing. Keep grinding and working for yourselves and each other. That's what you can do. Control what you can from here on.

What I don't want to hear anymore is empty outrage and promises that can't be kept. Earl, don't go off in the press about how mad you are, and the next time you take the mat you'll leave it all out there. It seems you don't, and you haven't, IMO. That's why we're where we're at.

If Downey really wants to wrestle, and is able, I assume he'd be out there. But, I don't know where a coach's directive and a wrestler's belief intersect. March is going to be March, but you have to get there, and going through our practice room isn't proving to be that challenging.

Wrestling IMO is all about physical toughness and mental fortitude. I may be totally wrong on this, and I welcome the other side of the argument. Or, the coaches need to be honest about the extend of injuries to avoid public criticism of kids. That seems to always be the case in wrestling.

Pretty sure Downey is still in Ames and didn't even make the trip. I truthfully don't think he wrestles again for us and I can't say I'm mad about it, he's been pretty embarrassing to our school to say the least.
I'm not 100% positive but I swore I seen him during the handshakes but could have been mistaken.

Wait, are you still referring to your friend's friend who thinks he heard someone say Downey was drinking at a casino? GTFO

There's no referring or thinking required. It was all posted on social media and has been referred to by others.

Emboldened by their role in getting the coach to leave, and with the taste of blood still in their mouths, the Loser Brigade goes after individual Cyclone wrestlers. Good job, Agnes Moorhead.

Trust me, 'your' program has much bigger problems than Downey. This site is a complete waste of time.

LOL well OUR program gave your kid a chance which he obviously doesn't think is that big of a deal. Hope his and your "Me Me" attitude serves him well in MMA just hope for his financial sake he actually shows up to fights.

You could be right and we have an opportunity to right the ship so to speak with a new hire, but they are 10 men out east who are putting it on the line this weekend, and aren't just talking about it.

Going after him is reporting something he put in public? Right. Keep defending this kid and his dad. They have done so much to deserve it. First class guys.

Coach only has himself to blame for getting the boot. Iowa State is going to win 1 dual all year. 1 freaking dual win all year let that sink in.

Yeah, all those matches he wrestled up at 197 were 'for his own sake'...you know, because he cared more about his own seeding than what KJ thought was best for the TEAM. lol Go eat your popcorn.
