Big Man Recruiting - Prohm's luck will change

This makes no sense considering we have zero productivity from F/C this year. It wouldn't take much for us to get more from that position.

Ernst has gone on to receive offers from Xavier, Pitt and several other programs. Normally we would be jumping for joy landing a post with those offers.

If Carter transfers he will likely end up a a low major program. Kasongo basically had no other options.
Mods please merge with Ernst mega thread. It's great that every thread that's a loss can turn into pining for a guy averaging like 11 and 7 in JUCO.
Again, unless you have inside information about what Carter and Ernst were told by Prohm it's pretty ridiculous to jump to the conclusion that Prohm "chose" Carter and pushed out Ernst. When Ernst left Malou, Lard and Young were on the way with another class coming up with likes of Stokes in play. Maybe Ernst just saw the writing on the wall. Maybe Carter did as well but settled here and happy where he is.

Personally I'd like to forget about the grad transfer guys. Other than Kane has any of them done much? I guess you could argue a case for Bowie as a role player. We've had several transfers under Fred that sat out and played well but a really good "big" grad transfer is probably just a dream. I think a juco is the way to go to compliment Young and Lard. Someone with offensive moves around the basket, rebounds and plays D.

Zero? It's pretty reasonable to assume a Juco big guy going to Xavier and doing well at IHCC could be of some benefit. Just a moderate contribution would be a significant resulting impact given the close losses this season, and he'd still have 3 more years.

Ernst certainly has holes as a prospect, but we weighed too heavily what he isn't when what he is (and will be) is far better than what we ended up with.

Although given how Prohm has managed Young, maybe it was Ernst seeking a better place for big men.

Yeah, it's hard to be productive on the bench. Unless, give me a D - give me an E

Must be so. I've seen the talk of him being a dirty player and no one really liking him but i've never seen any posts about him punching Niang in the d1ck. not saying it wasnt discussed or it didnt happen i just didnt see it.

Been discussed in numerous threads thought the year - not the focus of threads but as posts embedded in numerous threads.

We have had some pretty bad post players that could atleast be serviceable in the past. I refuse to believe these post can't get it done, because there is no reason to even think that. No we haven't seen much from post players because we only see them for 5 minutes most games,God forbid they don't blow everyone away on the 3-4 posesions they get in the game and don't even get past too.

All of the graduate transfers since Fred and Steve arrived...

Jake Anderson
DeAndre Kane
Bryce Dejean-Jones
Merrill Holden
Darrell Bowie

Kane obviously stands out. He's the exception, not the rule.

I'm not ready to write Carter off. It used to be the norm that players, bigs in particular would not play until their Jr. and Sr. years. He may still develop, or he may move on. Ernst, who knows, he also may be a big recruiting flop at X. Lack of past recruiting and Holen's non-production thus far have been the issues.

I'd take a Jake Anderson every year.

Me too. Loved that guy.

Uncle Jake was a 2-3, though, a guard/wing/swingman, not a Big 12 post.

We've got plenty of those on the scholarship chart.

I have a quiet fantasy of what this team would look like if it had just *one* true Big 12 big man... Cato, Homan, Vroman, Hamilton, somebody like that.

Those don't exactly grow on the grad transfer market tree.

If they do at all. :/

If that's the case I feel like Prohm should be able to handle that.

Get him to understand why you can't injure teammates and turn that aggressiveness to your oppnenents.

LE and Floyd would have seen that as an asset, even if it needed some additional managing.
TF and LE would never have had him here unless they missed on top prospects first.
