Cockiness

This thread is so typical of the uninformed making senseless statements. Started out with plenty of criticism of Coach because he needed to "tune these guys in." Interestingly, that is exactly what the coach did, long before these posts appeared. But never let lack of information prevent wisdom to flow on this forum.

Bottom line, if anyone actually knows Coach they will realize he is 100% class - all the way. He took so much heat last year because the team under-performed early, but they still made it to the Sweet 16. He had some "attitudes" that he needed to deal with - and he did. Similarly, he had some "attitudes" this year to deal with, and he is doing just that. Head cases really damage a team, and usually result in under-performance of the team. Cleaning up the mess is easier said than done, but Coach has shown he can do it. He is patient - but not too patient. He sets a standard for the team - and expects the team to meet that standard - win, loose or draw.

I do not care if every poster on this forum disagrees with me, but I think Coach is doing a pretty good job. He is adjusting to the world of the Big 12. He is adjusting to the players he has to work with. But within all that, he is a class guy, which as a Cyclone, I truly value and respect.

I agree 100%. That said he needs to nip it in the bud ASAP. If that means benching guys to get his message across so be it. If it happens again then he has a respect issue among the veteran guys on the team.

I feel like the average poster doesn't understand the average P5 basketball player. This just kind of goes along with the "Why don't CBB teams shoot 90% from the FT line as a team" mindset.

And now that we know this stemmed from a huddle in the middle of the game where I don't care what is said in the heat of battle to get the team pumped then it's even more of a non-issue. Plus it seemed to work.

And it was basically what everyone here wanted them to tell each other in the huddle.

Bowie obviously shouldn't have said it to Tommy or Randy or whoever. But it isn't nearly the issue that our fans are making it and that the media in this state is making it.

I don't think Bowie's comments raise to that level but if the are in direct conflict with Prohm's direction we'll know. If it was a big deal we'll see some type of discipline for Bowie tonight... Prohm has shown in the past that if there are issues behind the scenes he will act. See McKay situation 2016.

If yer so smart why do we keep missing layups?!?!?

Prohm dealt with it. He told Bowie to call Rutter and apologize. Bowie did. He did not tell Bowie to release the statement on twitter, but was happy that he did. He also talked to the team about it. I think it's over.

I read several tweets during the game that the Drake players were kind of ******** in trash talking during the game. But that doesn't seem to draw the fire from all of us, right?

You trying to tell me a 45 overweight white guy that can't even get picked to play pickup games at the YMCA doesn't understand your typical P5 basketball player? ********. They're practically the same person.

I think people are making issue of it because of their obvious lack of character on the court. Not just because one of them let it slip that they really are arrogant. If they were showing maximum effort and weren't pouting at each other for playing hero ball all the time, you know, the opposite of Hoiball, then they would hear nothing about this.

Why are we talking about what Drake did? I'm worried about our character, screw everyone else.

People are more unhappy about the on-the-court play than they are the inherent arrogance.

You think there was no hero ball or pouting in Hoiball? I loved Kane, but he was the definition of both.

I already stated that Kane, Ejim, and Niang were the emodiment of backing it up. I have no problem with an emotional player as long as he keeps himself and his players composure in the moment. How often do you see someone other than Naz trying to get people going?

I just wanted to bump this thread. I hope all our guys realize they were BLESSED to be 6' 2" plus athletic men in the most affluent and gilded economy in the history of humankind and they have the ability to play a game that gives them unwarranted adulation and a chance to educate themselves. Wierd times.

You gonna pass that thing bogart?

Every P5 mens basketball team has guys that are cocky and talk alot of **** the team that had Georges, Kane, Hogue, and Ejim was one of the best trash talking teams we ever had. If you look up the word Cocky in the dictionary Chris Babb's picture can be seen right beside it. Alot of people I have heard or read make their 2 cents be known about this conversation act like it is such an unheard of thing for a player at ISU do it. Get real people.

Ejim and Kane doing what they did best besides play ball.

Royce telling Kentucky he was the best ******* player on the floor.

Chris Babb always had a slap in the opponents face with his trademark gotta eat hand gesture as seen in this video.

Those guys could back up it up though, except when they got beat or blown out on the road and then they were just cocky.
