Rashaan Salaam RIP

The last guy to rush for 2000 yards in a season and win the Heisman before that statistic suddenly didn't matter.

And he broke 2K against Iowa State (of course). Lot of weird stuff happened that day, to wit:

*McCartney announces resignation in the locker room after the game
*Troy houses a kick return, after being subbed in on the KR unit because Geoff "The Rat" Turner got hurt
*Walden, already on his way out, watches the game from the radio booth
*Jeff Soucie (ISU player) killed in a car crash early that morning; team found out after the game

So I'm off on what constitutes foul play, it means someone else was involved apparently. I figured it included OD or suicide. Need to binge some Law & Order SVU.

Not to be mean, but how? Hicks jumped off a bridge onto interstate traffic...
just the general situation. suspected foul play. former college athlete found dead. Maybe it's just me but the first thing i thought of Stevie Hicks when i found out.
when the news of Stevie came out CTE wasn't a thing. But now there is at least a possible explanation.

CTE is a mother******.

This thing is a ticking timebomb and Goodell/NFL has lots of death on their hands regarding the CTE.

Most of us on here would love the chance to be a pro athlete in some sport knowing that you'd deal with pain/arthritis/etc... but think the equation changes with brain death leading to unspeakable violence against those you love and ultimately to yourself.

I DO missed the "jacked up" segments but I understand...

It seems like CTE was likely, but we'll never know for sure. The coroner report was released today, confirming it was suicide. But Salaam's family declined to have the brain tested for CTE, citing religious beliefs. Peace to them. What a sad story.
