Matt Rhule to Baylor

Baylor is going to look extremely different if Rhule plans on running the same offense as he did at Temple. They were mostly double tight end formation and pound the ball at you.
In my opinion, Baylor's roster does not match the offensive strategy very well. I would also assume that little Briles will be gone...won't he?

With changes like this one, you can assume the staff will leave. Rhule will want his own, probably most everyone who was with him in Philadelphia. And BU assistants have already said they were packing up before the season ended. It will be interesting to see how they handle their bowl game.

Gosh. Almost makes you feel bad for the Baylor staff... except not at all.

Sure, Penn St had some bad years but their fans stuck it out. I don't see that happening in Waco, in fact I fully expect to see a shiny new tarp in the next year or two.

The other thing is, at least if I remember this right, the school and fans were pretty much on the same page at Penn State. It seems like the fans at Baylor hate the administration and that won't help the situation

can't see a scenario where Rhule would retain any of the current staff. I would imagine that you will see a significant amount of players transfer from the program as well.

I wouldn't put what Iowa State is going through vs Baylor is going through. Iowa State you need to build up, you have a fan base that isn't expecting much for 3 years, and you have a loyal fan base.

Baylor you got a fan base that wants to win right now, baylor fans.com is throwing this guy under bus saying that they will suck again now, and waco is very far from the northeast.

I would also throw in Baylor needs to come down before they can climb back up. What worries me is Rhule might have an ok season next year like 5-7 but if he goes 2-10 the following year he may get fired. That's why I wouldn't take the job. Plus Rhule was seen as the coach in waiting for the Penn St job.

Honestly, 5-7 will probably be a stretch next year. They lost half of their 2016 class and have 1 verbal for 2017. Couple that with guys graduating and players jumping ship and just like that Baylor is back in the basement. Just my opinion but the only way Baylor can rebuild their program is with a Texas guy that has relationships with the high school coaches. Rhule is a good coach but this is a less than ideal situation that he is walking in to. Herman taking the Texas job definitely doesn't help Baylor out.
 
Baylor had a pretty bad culture and that is the most difficult situation for a coach to come into, especially one with a completely different philosophy and a lot of media attention on the program watching how that culture changes. IMO this plays out like the Charlie Strong situation but with more players jumping ship and more loses each year.

Fingers crossed that Baylor ends up back in the dumpster of the Big 12 where they belong.

Suprised with the selection on both ends.

Hope the money he signed for offsets attaching his name to this program.
