Not exactly sure.
I don't remember weekday tournaments at all...until you get to regional/state level at the end of the season, that is...

They even ran out of food last year, so basically you need to pack a lunch also. He is looking to drop down another weight, so a workout is a whole lot more important than a few matches. He basically was up two weight classes this week due to a coaching screw up on paperwork. Looked like a midget next to his opponents.

In my job I have to occasionally take phone calls from HR reps at various companies. Most are nice, but a few are pretty high and mighty and leave voicemails that sound angry that you aren't right next to the phone available to take their call 24/7.

Try calling that person back after noon on a Friday, and you've got about a 20% chance they haven't left work for the week. Urgh.

We employ a lot of students, who tend to use us as a reference. I get background check calls and potential employment calls all the time. I completely agree...there are some very passive-aggressive HR folks out there!

so both Dh and I need socks. I had gotten some Hanes ankle socks last spring for wearing around the house. About half the pairs have about worn through the bottom of my heel already. Not cool. DH had gotten some goldtoe type dress ish work socks last winter that he says the heels are wearing out on. So, looking for socks that will you know, last longer. I might get some asics ones for around the house since my workout ones seem to hold up well. But I still need crew/knee type ones for wearing to work in winter. My toes get cold in the paper thin ones I've been wearing.

I've read good things about smartwool/darntough types but they are a good bit pricier. Though if they will last and be comfy, that's better than buying new socks every six months. I could try ordering a few kinds for DH, he's pretty picky but I don't want to get him Goldtoe again because's he had the same problem twice. He clearly needs something that's more heavy duty.

Lots of luck! Sock quality sucks these days. Goldtoes used to be good quality. I wore their dress socks for years but their more recent generations of socks wear out in the heel and achilles at the same rate as race tires on a hot track. Have not found a good replacement option. Even bought some Polos this spring as an experiment. Don't have results from that since old retired dude doesn't wear them everyday anymore. ;) I have the same issue with athletic socks. The standard weight these days is too thin for my tastes. I don't want really thin or really thick. The options now are (seemingly) only really thin or really thick.

yeah, that's what his are doing. Think I'll just try ordering a few different kinds and seeing if we get a hit.

When I got my new shoes this summer/dealing with foot issues, I got a couple pairs of running socks. I've been happy with my asics ones, but there was a balega pair that were really thick. Probably in the too thick category for you, but may be worth a try.

Men's socks:

Dress socks mostly just worn very often by husband. Gold Toe always wears through on the heel for him. Had better luck with some Ralph Lauren ones on sale at Younkers and some at Mens Wearhouse, I think Pronto Uomo.

Know nothing about women's athletic socks cause I buy whatever is cheap and they work fine for an old lady. For various sports the kids like the Woolrich Merino and Nike Dri-fit, which tend to be expensive. Can get them Brooks low quarter dri-fit for less and those seem to work.

Son with real job usually wears Clark's boots to work as they are good either for meetings or when he has to be on factory floor occasionally. He likes the boot socks at American Eagle.

I know you are looking more for dress/work socks, but the C9 socks I get at Target have held up better for my oldest better than Nike socks she had. Kids these days wear black sports socks, so she has crew that she wears for volleyball and no show that she wears every day. If you can get by with black crew socks for work (wear with boots) you could try them, I always steal them from her. And since they are 6 to a pack, if one gets a hole we just toss and match it up with another lone survivor.

And for around the house, get some slippers. I don't hardly even wear just socks, always have slipper on. I wear the hard bottom ones that if I need to, I can run out to the mail in them. We even travel with our slippers. Yes, we are 80yrs old.

As a Warner Brothers cartoon fan i always try to catch the date the cartoon was made during the opening credits. Gotta look fast but it's there in Roman numerals.
