I have a job, 8 hours at my job I make $72 doing community service I get 0. We also have to write an email to a political figure asking them to change something
Yes, I am aware you don't get paid for community service. That doesn't mean the experience is pointless and you can still learn/gain a lot from the experience
Plus, considering you have that job to make a little extra spending money, I don't see why that matters
A Des Moines family will be on house hunters tonight at 9 (I think 9 central). I really only watched the show with my girlfriend, but I'll need to see it tonight
Bud, I've had jobs where I've spent more than that EVERY week in order to keep my job. 8 hours in a semester is nothing. This week alone I will have over 8 hours with the youth football and then almost had to line judge a JH vball game tonight. Thanks to the 8th grader who was willing to do it so I could watch my daughter. There you go BDK, an 8th grader gave up 1 1/2 hours of his time unpaid without getting asked. Nice kid.
This is something many schools are doing. We have had kids show up and help dish out food at our charity events. It's only 8 hours. If it was next spring you could come to our pancake breakfast and get an easy 4 hours.
They required that in my government class...aka Civics class...in HS. And that was way back in what you would consider the Stone Age...the early 90's.

Oh yeah, no volunteering for govt class but my FFA advisor made sure we had one Saturday morning a month volunteering doing something.
Hell, I volunteer more than 8 hours on any given weekend.

Found out some more info on the neighbors. Apparently they had a fight and she left with their girls in the middle of the night and somehow the cops found her and took her to the hospital. She put a restraining order on him and the kids are no longer in their custody.
