Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

It (Betsy) didn't seem that odd to me. There were lots of songs with random girl's names in them. I guess I figured it had something to do with their first/pilot episode where maybe there was a girl named Betsy to which they sang some song putting people down.

Remember when the title songs to the shows told the set up?

Mr. Ed - A horse is a horse of course, of course.
Beverly Hillbillies - Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed
Gilligan's Island - Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale.
Brady Bunch - Here's a story of a man named Brady....
Green Acres - Fresh Air, Times square, etc.
See if you can get this one (hint...it's a little younger than those other ones):
Look at what's happened to me
I can't believe it myself
Suddenly I'm up on top of the world
Shoulda been somebody else...

My shins cry if I try a slower thing like that. I guess these legs just want one dull, steady pace for whatever distance. Just don't change that routine, unless it involves sprints. My legs seem to think that's cool.

I've only done it once but I found my mind didn't like it. Took so long to run. Plus my forefoot went to sleep but that's typical. I can't figure that part out. Maybe I need to pretty much undo the shoelaces or something.

So our family doctor was recently fired for some unknown reason. While discussing it with my wife I just mentioned how I want someone that I won't just be a number to since I will now have to go to them for my flight physicals every four years. That of course went into the you need to go every year discussion which it has not been confirmed but it is possible that I lost.
Annual for women, yes. But Mrs. WX is going to hate me because unless you have some chronic condition, men can get away with skipping a year or two in between until around 40.
Disclaimer: this is opinion only, and is not based on medical fact. ;) I can also guarandamteeya that it's easier to nag your spouse into it once every 3-4 years as opposed to annual exams.

This happened to my brother. He wondered what ever happened to his doctor. About 6 months later he noticed an article about how his former doctor was going to prison for writing excessive, unneeded (illegal) prescriptions for pain killers. No more wondering

When you get onto maintenance drugs (usually first one is for cholesterol) you don't have a choice. Annual physical is necessary to get the next year's prescription into the system.

I know that one. The "Theme to the Greatest American Hero".

My mom used to sing the chorus as "Sooner or Later you're walking on water" instead of "Believe it or not I'm walking on air".

This will sum up your discussion pretty well.

I thought every four was often. last full physical I had was a sports physical. I was Go ng to Bea senior so I figure when I am a senior I will be ready for another.

Well the FAA is going to require me to go every four years (down from every 5 but now I get to go to my own Dr and classify it as an annual physical). I could go more often but I know exactly what they are going to say. I wonder what % of time something is found on an annual physical that needs to be treated.

I'm not sure what a partial or full physical is. I did have a couple partial ones. Last one was to get my EMT license. Had a 90# Indian woman for it. She did the part where you push against their hands with your legs. Well, I figured she would present more resistance than a 3 year old and kicked the stool she left in front of me and may have broke my toe there. Was gimpy and bruised for a while. Little stool caught air and found the opposite wall.

they do that with certain prescriptions for women, too. And used to tie the completion of certain procedures (unrelated to your suitability for said medication) to it. Well, think they still do but reduced it from yearly.

Did you check Jrs DNA? Maybe he was providing unknown fertility help. Heard a dentist did this.

Did you miss the part about "it changes around 40" and "chronic conditions"? I've got Lew getting a yearly. What we're fighting with now is him remembering to take his damned meds!

Women should really start getting annuals when they become sexually active. There are many things that present no outward symptoms on women like they do for men, and they can have long-term ramifications including sterility if left untreated. Mammos start somewhere between 40 & 55 depending on risk factors. It used to be annual after 40 for most women, now they're saying biannually after 50 until age 74, then annually.

Is this the body aches and pains thread? I had the worst pinched nerve that almost go me into a Dr. for the first time in 3 years (when you have 4 other people to be responsible for getting to the Dr, you tend to let yourself slide). Kept me up one night, next night I swear I heard two distinct pops while I slept. Has improved daily since then but still have pain enough that I can't workout too much.

Go to a chiro. I'm not a big chiro guy, but there are some things that they are good for.
