Anyone Out There Watching Lucha Underground?

Hope so. I know most of Season 3 is already shot. The review on the Observer mentioned that Dr. Wagner Jr. is barely in the next season, so that's a bummer.

It doesn't change the fact that I freaking love Dario Cueto.

RING THE BELL!!!

RING THE BELL!!!

Dario is the best. I look forward to LU each week almost more than any other wrestling show. The only problem is I'm not into the inter-gender matches. LU is too flip on man-on-woman violence. Otherwise, a really enjoyable show, and the fastest hour in wrestling.

The matches I'm most excited for in Ultima Lucha II (in order of most excited to least excited to watch):

King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes
- these two are never in a bad match. Should be epic.

Trios Title - PJ Black, Mundo, and Jack Evans vs. Aerostar, Drago, and Fenix - Jack Evans, enough said.

Gift of the Gods Elimination Match - looking forward to see what new wrestler Night Claw is all about. Also love seeing more of Mariposa, Killshot, and Daga whenever I get a chance.

Matanza Cueto vs. Pentagon Jr.
- this could be good, if Matanza can put together another effort similar to his fight against Cage. We already know Pentagon always puts on a good show.

Prince Puma vs. Rey Mysterio - 5-10 years ago, Rey Mysterio would have made this the main event. Not sure how much more he has in the tank. Puma will have to carry this match.

Taya vs. Ivelisse - I don't know why, but both of these women do better against the guys than against other women. Hopefully they surprise me.

Dragon Azteca Jr. vs Black Lotus - only down here at the bottom because Black Lotus has not wrestled in a while and hasn't made her LU wrestling debut. Not sure if she's even ever had a cross-gender match. Azteca always brings it, so it will all depend on her. Have no clue what to expect on this one.
Speaking of Night Claw, without giving away any spoilers, does anyone know who he is? I couldn't find anything on him in AAA, so I'm guessing he might be a re-brand like Hijo del Fantasma/King Cuerno?

I tried to look him up too. The only thing that came up was Brian Cage, who used the name before. I don't think it's him though.

Well, Ultima Lucha Dos Part II is in the books. My thoughts:

Gift of The Gods Match
-Daga looked sharp in the ring. Not sure where they're going with the Kobra Moon angle, though.
-Night Claw had a very impressive debut. Unfortunately, someone mentioned that he is not really around in Season 3, so this might have been his one and only show.
-Killshot and Marty were their usual reliable selves and put on a good show.
-I LOVE Mariposa. Her and Ivelisse are my favorite female wrestlers in LU.

I won't give away the winner, but these were my favorite moments:
-Night Claw moonsault from the top of Dario's office.
-Killshot Death Valley Driver on Mariposa onto the ring apron.
-Marty falling outside the ring right by Melissa Santos and she pushing him away.
-Killshot Storm Cradle Driver finisher (love that move).
-Mariposa with the sunset flip powerbomb and Butterfly Effect/vertebreaker on Killshot - I was VERY impressed that she was able to lift Killshot for the vertebreaker. I mean, Killshot is not huge, but he is at least 6+ feet tall and must weight a decent amount.
-Sexy Star beckoning Marty to come into the ring.

During the intermission, we get a vignette with Mr. Cisco wearing a wire to help Joey and Cortez Castro in their investigation of Dario.

King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes Death Match

-These two guys came to fight and I really enjoyed the physicality of this match. Both guys looked great and the winner made that last sequence of attacks very believable.
-The two of them going up to the band and fighting up there was cool.
-Going multiple times into the crowd.
-Mil and Cuerno taking turns breaking the outside windows of the temple.
-Mil Muertes powerbombing Cuerno through 3-4 tables in a row.

Lastly, Dario murdering someone and Vampiro dumping his meds again made for a nice close to this week's show. Loved every second of it. Next week, we'll have a 2 hour season finale and then I'll have nothing else to do on Wednesday nights for a few months.

As you can probably tell from my write up, I'm not that huge of a Sexy Star fan. She did great in the No Mas match and looks decent at times, but for the most part she's always looked slow to me and misses/is sloppy with too many of her moves. Especially last night when her positioning was poor and Marty and Mariposa had to help her get her moves in correctly. I know LU really tries to put her over but I prefer to watch Mariposa, Ivelisse, or Taya. I also think Kobra Moon needs improvement, but at least I think she shows some promise.

One of the biggest problems Sexy Star runs into is she's basically been a heel her entire career - until her LU run. She's still "learning" how to be a face. And the rule of thumb is it's much harder to be a credible face than it is to be an amazing heel. As far as your other complaints - being slow and missing spots - valid complaints. She's never been a great in-ring technician. It's even worse when she's working in a promotion like LU in which every single match is a spotfest. She probably wouldn't look nearly as bad in TNA or WWE. That being said, that's probably not going to happen, as Season 3 of LU will be her last. She's willingly unmasked and is going into a boxing career with her husband.

As far as Taya...

Yep, in AAA she ran with Daga, Pentagon Jr, and the rest of the Perros del Mal crew. Ivelisse was actually the babyface. Taya does great as a heel and Ivelisse is great as a babyface with an edge. Mariposa is deliciously evil and somewhat playful at times. She does a great job with that character. I won't be sad to see Sexy Star leave. She had a great backstory, but her wrestling was definitely not up to par.

Which is crazy because she was Paige's partner-in-crime when she debuted at FCW as a heel. That's one WWE should have never let get away.

Yeah, it was with a couple guys, including Bill DeMott.
I've read from her in a couple of interviews regarding this. She claims that one of the people that ran Tough Enough basically told her to stop wrestling like a guy and be more like the divas. And when she complained that they also told her that the women were there just to be a bathroom break for the viewers.

Don't know how true her version of events was, but she did say she kept in touch with a few of the female wrestlers that she met there. She also had nothing but good things to say about the direction the women's WWE division is taking nowadays.

Wow. **** that. Glad the attitude has changed about womens wrestling in WWE

For all of the complaints the IWC has with HHH (a lot of them legit), he is doing a great job of initiating a culture change in WWE, starting with NXT. Unfortunately, he's still fighting his father-in-law, who's still convinced the fans want a wrestling product stuck in the 1980s.
