Morris and Mitrou-Long selected to prestigious camps.

Kind of interesting that Matt Thomas is flying under the radar going into his senior year. I thought that after he worked himself into a complete player last year that he might draw some attention from these types of camps. Good for Monte and Naz, though.

Obviously I love that Morris and Naz have been selected for these camps. But does anything think it's weird that Naz would get this selection over Matt Thomas? Statistically Matt had an equal if not better junior season that Naz.

Matt was also a very good defender

Obviously it took me some time to gather my data

Completely agree. But I wonder if because it is the Adidas Nations camp, that there is a limit on American players that they are bringing. I do not know the set up of this camp, but I know they bring in the US's top high schoolers as well as collegiate players from American/World backgrounds. Would be interesting to see how they made their selection process.

Nike Camp started today & it sounds like Monte is doing well.

@EvanDaniels: Iowa State's Monte Morris doesn't look super fast, but he's getting to the paint when he wants. Changes speeds well. Finding teammates.

@Sam_Vecenie: Here at Nike Basketball Academy, where Monte Morris, Josh Hart and Alec Peters are out here wrecking teams. The summer is great.

@Sam_Vecenie: They had to put together a Clarkson-Booker-Johnson-Gordon-Randle team to compete with the Peters-Morris-Hart behemoth.

@RobDauster: And the college kids beat them.

@lukewinn: Halfway thru the Nike Skills Academy, most polished college player has been Iowa State PG Monte Morris. Looking the part of a preseason AA.

Thanks so much for keeping track of the Nike camp. Great to hear about how Monte is doing, although pretty sure we all expected him to shine.

I think Collin Sexton is there, right? Hopefully he is taking notice of Monte's performance.
Yes Sexton is there. This picture was already posted on the recruiting thread, but here's a picture of them together there.

Why do I get the feeling Monte will be looking up DeAndre in the near future?

Great for Monte!

I love that he's getting the attention, but it always seems like it is a big surprise. Anyone who has watched Monte the last 2 years knew he was one of the best point guards in the country. I wouldn't trade him for anyone.

Been rocking Monte Mr. Michigan basketball for awhile, 38mpg last year is insane. PG is the most important position in basketball and I think we have the best in the country. That's what I'm most worried about going forward. Georges is Georges but without Diante, Monte, DeAndre, where are we today?

It's comments like this that make me shake my head and not understand how Iowa State, who has been in the Top 25 for the last 4-5 years (3 of which where they haven't dropped out of the polls) might not start the season ranked.

It's complete bs if they aren't ranked. But, I will remain positive. I will be shocked if ISU is not there. ISU will have THE BEST back-court in the nation. (Morris/Thomas/Naz) - Morris will most likely be 1st team Pre-Season AA too. How again wouldn't they be ranked? In years past, most teams get the benefit of the doubt with just one player being an All American, and automatically put in the Pre-Season top 25. We'll have that with Morris for sure.

*Note, being ranked and constant recognition is very important for ISU. Doesn't hurt our recruiting efforts either. This was a Sweet 16 team that returns 4 starters.
