Quran Hafiz to make commitment announcement on Friday

I'm guessing VATech, but right now I would say it's a toss up. I believe pretty much every scouting guy says VT, but what do they know.

I have to agree with Beyerball on this, I think Hafiz could end up being a standout in the secondary. Good length, acceleraton and quickness.

I've seen the VT fans throwing out the names of the great DBs that have gone through VT. Hoping he remembers that was under a completely different coaching staff.

Consider that all the expert predictions took place when he visited VaTech. And was going to make an announcement. Quran came close to committing then. But then came to Iowa State and had a great visit. Seemed to really bond with some players and the coaches.

IMO, it is probably a tossup. The Iowa State Coaching Staff has made the case and now the decision is up to Quran.

To me he looks to be one of the best we are recruiting. Morgan might be the only one I would put ahead of him from the ones we got and the ones we are still after. This kid could be really good.

I'd say from the pictures and tease he's put out there after his visit that he's leaning ISU.

Obviously each individual is unique, but......... Octavious Morgan Retweeted

That's just funny. Mathieu and Peterson are the only two that are any good, Claiborne is a bust and before that their only one that I can think of was Ryan Clark who was good, but not great.

Virginia Tech has Kam Chancellor, Kyle Fuller and DeAngelo Hall currently playing in the NFL.

They all played at VaTech under another coaching staff. Beamer is gone.

I completely agree with your analysis. I was merely pointing out a very recent instance of a highly sought after recruit who was blitzed by propaganda and ultimately picked the good guys.

The scouting guys haven't updated their picks since the ISU visit. He was 99% going to VT before that.

I pulled this from Alex Halsted's interview on Sunday.

Hafiz currently plans to take trips to South Florida, Virginia Tech and potentially Indiana in the final weeks of July when the dead period is lifted.

This change of plans favors Iowa State.

Thought he was announcing tomorrow?

I assume the thought here is that he changed his plans and decided to commit before visiting his other top 2 schools. Unfortunately, he has already been to VT once, so that's not quite accurate.

But he is not going to go to VaTech again. Either way Quran saw enough of Iowa State and VaTech to make a decision tomorrow. Only he knows which way he is leaning.

It's pretty common to commit to the last school you visit though, I think that's the point.

I also read he visited South Florida back in the spring and they are still in the running.

I get that he already visited VT. Just saying... If the circumstances were reversed and Quran changed his plans to take a second visit to Ames this fall and says he's ready to declare 4 days after visiting VT how would you feel? I like our chances.
