Amazing show tonight.

- Cortez Castro and Joey Ryan sent back on undercover police assignment to the temple and they are entering the trios tournament with Mr. Cisco.

- 1st Match: Ivelisse vs. Kobra Moon. Great match. A lot of submission moves from Kobra Moon and overall great action from both wrestlers. Kobra Moon with a nice new finisher, but Ivelisse kicks out and returns the favor with a sunset flip power bomb.

https://twitter.com/LuchaElRey/status/717867841152618497

Kobra Moon takes her first loss and both wrestlers looked very good. Ivelisse is a very capable singles wrestler and Kobra Moon is really coming into her own.

-Segment with a nice backstory on Killshot. Very well done and giving some additional background on the character.

-2nd Match: Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco, and Joey Ryan vs... Marty The Moth, Mariposa, and The Mack??? Talk about a dysfunctional team! Mariposa and Mr. Cisco really shined in this match. I never thought much of Cisco as a wrestler but he really came out of his shell today. The Mack was as good as usual and Joey Ryan was up to his usual antics.

There were some extracurriculars after the match, but I won't spoil it for you.

- Rey Mysterio and Dragon Azteca Jr. decide to enter the trios tournament next week. Their partner? Prince Puma!

-Last match of the night: Fenix vs. Matanza Cueto. I won't say much on this one, as I don't want to spoil it. What happened after the match will make you jump out of your seat!

Overall, a great show this week. Kobra Moon, Mariposa, and Mr. Cisco were very good tonight and you definitely owe it to yourself to watch the main event.

A couple of matches announced for tonight:

Kobra Moon vs. Ivelisse

CfNN4OrUEAAfMNM.jpg

And Fenix using the Gift of the Gods belt to challenge Matanza for the title:

CfT3WUHUUAAc_JW.jpg

That's not quite right - Fenix cashed in Gift of the Gods against Mil Muertes a few weeks back and won the LU title from him. As punishment for insolence, Catrina, who was still running the Temple at that point, forced Fenix to defend the LU title in Aztec Warfare from the #1 position - where Dario Cueto returned to reclaim the Temple and unleashed Matanaza.

Have to think Dario's unabated lust for blood and violence is eventually going to catch up with him when he loses control of Matanaza and he becomes an uncontrolled monster.

Nice, after a year and a half, that Killshot finally has a character.

Sexy Star finally snaps and starts fighting back against Mariposa.

And I can't get enough of Joey Ryan.

You're right. I had to check again and was wondering why Fenix did not have the Gift of the Gods belt. Now I remember that he did use it against Mil Muertes, became champion, and then lost it in Aztec Warfare.

A couple of additional points:

1. Ivelisse is a better wrestler than most people think. I've seen her in AAA before and she can pull off some decent moves.
2. I like Kobra Moon (and think it's really cool that she hisses during her matches - she really is in character!), but she needs a storyline/feud to develop pretty soon.
3. Totally agree on liking the fact that Killshot finally has a backstory. Seems like they should have done this last season?
4. The Matanza-Mil Muertes match will be hot fire.
5. Joey Ryan - love that character. He had me cracking up during Aztec Warfare when he handcuffed himself to that railing. I hope he's in LU for a while.

Great show tonight.

Killshot debuted a new finisher that probably killed Argenis:

https://twitter.com/LuchaElRey/status/720405178801737728

Daga debuted and was pretty impressive against Tejano.

But the real highlight was the insane main event: Prince Puma, Dragon Azteca Jr., and Rey Mysterio vs. Johnny Mundo, Taya, and Cage. This thing was non-stop from start to finish with some really nice action.

Can't wait for next week's show where we'll see Mil Muertes taking on Matanza! That is going to be insane!

If you checked the LU twitter during the match, Cage, Mundo, and Taya were posting and Taya's posts were pretty funny.

Haven't had a chance to see it yet - new kid and all (in special care at the hospital care at the hospital because she's 5 weeks early - she's fine, just watching her, hopefully will come home this weekend).

Let me guess - Mundo, Taya, and Cage is one of Dario Cueto's "special" creations, much like Ivilesse, Angelico, and Son of Havoc, right? Otherwise that team makes absolutely no sense. Which is why I love LU.

Yep. And of course, they fell apart during the match. Dario Cueto is so entertaining. My favorite backstage segments this season are any of them with Dario Cueto, Famous B, or officers Meehan (Joey Ryan) and Reyes (Cortez Castro) back at the police station. The opening segment with Cage, Mundo, and Taya coming into Dario's office just had me rolling. You definitely have to see that part.

Next week's match between Mil Muertes and Matanza is must see TV.

By the way, congrats on the new baby! My 9 month old son was also born early (4 weeks). The day he left the hospital was the biggest relief ever. Hang in there!

Holy ****. Amazing show yesterday. Things started off with the always reliable Drago vs. Aerostar match for an Aztec Medallion. These two are always entertaining and have great chemistry together. Aerostar botched a move on the ropes and fell outside the ring and appeared to hurt himself, but recovered nicely and put up a great match.

And a nice springboard codebreaker:
20160420lu_1_2.gif

The next match was another of Dario's trios team creations. He teamed up Fenix, Jack Evans, and the Darewolf PJ Black against the Disciples of Death. That team actually worked surprisingly well and all team members shined (on team Fenix). Jack Evans was absolutely hilarious (refusing to tag in because he was still stretching, among other shenanigans) and showed off some amazing athleticism. PJ Black had a really strong showing, and Fenix was his usual self. Worth a watch. This trios tournament has been extremely fun. I won't spoil what happens next backstage with the disciples of death, but this was worse than the time Mil Muertes punished them for losing a match.

The main event was everything you expected. Monster vs. Monster. Matanza and Mil Muertes had a great match and Mil Muertes was able to pummel Matanza all the way down to the ground. This was the first time Matanza looked even human and they went back and forth without either fighter gaining and edge.

Matanza gave Mil 3 of these in a row:

20160420lu_3_1.gif

In the end, they fought all the way up to the area above Dario Cueto's office and then at the end this happened:

20160420lu_3_2.gif

At the end of the show (after the credits), we get another scene in the LAPD office with Joey and Cortez Castro's captain and a special appearance by... Lorenzo Lamas!? That was awesome.

Next week, we'll get:

-cage match between Johnny Mundo and Cage
-trios tournament championship 4-way match between all the winners (team Rey Mysterio, team Joey Ryan, team Jack Evans, and team Havoc). That should be a blast.

Crazy episode last night. There were only two matches but both were very well done.

The first match was billed as "Cage in a cage". Johnny Mundo and Cage really went at each other with hard shots and there were some really cool spots like a Spanish Fly and Moonlight Drive from the top ropes and a missed End of the World from the top of the cage. Taya had a really cool cross body dive from the top of the cage and, damn, girl can take a chair shot. The coolest part was the two fighters using the kendo stick, especially with Johnny using his parkour moves to avoid Cage's strikes. The match ended with a brutal Steiner Screwdriver by Cage on Johnny right on to a chair. Cage earns an Aztecx Medallion.

The second match was the trios tournament championship. Dario Cueto announced right before the match that Angelico would not be competing due to an injury, so the champions were already down one fighter.

The Crew/Joey Ryan entrance (never change, Joey, never change):
mCDEIRV.gif

The other hilarious character in the Temple is, of course, Jack Evans and he came out doing a handstand down the temple steps. He was absolutely hilarious all night, at one point, hitting Ivelisse and proclaiming that HE was the "baddest ***** in the building". That w as awesome and I couldn't stop laughing. Speaking of Ivelisse, she really wrestled well last night. Had a great kick to Fenix's face, a German suplex to Joey Ryan, and a code red to Jack Evans. Her exchanges with Evans and Ryan were both great. Too bad the champions got eliminated.

The last two teams were Puma, Dragon Azteca, and Rey Mysterio vs. PJ Black, Jack Evans, and Fenix. From this point on, the action was insane. The best part was a sequence between Dragon Azteca and Fenix where they exchanged some amazing offense.

20160427luchaunderground_4.gif

20160427luchaunderground_5.gif

Dragon Azteca went for another tilt a whirl DDT on Fenix, but Fenix countered the second one with a perfectly timed kick to the face on the way down. There was another really cool spot with Puma doing the tilt a whirl part first and then tossing Dragon Azteca on to Jack Evans for the DDT portion itself. That was amazing and perfectly timed. In the end, we were rewarded with new trios champions.

This match was non-stop action and a must-watch.

After the end credits, we got a vignette with Vampiro again as the dark lord and Pentagon Jr in a wheelchair (since Matanza broke his back a few weeks ago) at their dark dojo. I won't spoil it, but that is the definition of tough love.

Announced matches for tonight:

The Mack vs. Marty The Moth Martinez
(The Mack should win this one, but it will be brutal if they go outside the ring). The hate between these two should come through nicely in this match.

King Cuerno vs. Siniestro de la Muerte
(the powered up version, so I'm assuming he comes out with the win) - excited to see King Cuerno back in action. Will Siniestro be better than his Disciples of Death version?

Sexy Star vs. Mariposa
(pick 'em - they're building Sexy Star for a win here, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mariposa win this one) - I'm actually pretty excited for this women's match, as they're both very capable wrestlers, but would like to see Maripossa vs. Ivelisse or Taya in the near future, as all of those women carry a nice mean streak to them.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's a long build with Sexy Star, and it centers around a feud with Johnny Mundo in Season 3. Sexy Star wins the redistributed Gift of the Gods Championship 7-way match; shortly later Mundo beats her for the title. Sexy wins Aztec Warfare III and becomes LU Champion, Mundo cashes in his GotGC and beats Sexy for the LU Championship.

Holy. *******. ****.

That was the most brutal and violent women's match I've ever seen. I might need some time to process this.

Considering they're already taping Season 3, all you have to do is look at the LU Roster and LU Championship pages to see that's what actually happens. And you're right, it is crazy - but it also makes LU hella fun too.

That was the most brutal and violent women's match I've ever seen. I might need some time to process this.

Then there was the lead up promo to that match, where Dario Cueto was half playing in-ring psychologist to help Sexy get over the emotional trauma Mariposa inflicted upon her - and the other half of him absolutely getting off at the prospect of Sexy and Mariposa beating the living **** out of each other.
