You guys may become the perfect couple.

Based on nearly every metric you could use, PapaLew & I should never have made it past our disastrous first date. 22.5 years later, I'm SO happy to prove everyone wrong. ;)

******** moment.

My niece is getting married memorial day weekend in Lincoln. My step-sister (we don't get along) sent me a text today saying that she didn't know if her mom and my dad would be able to make it, unless someone were to go get them, and take them back home.

It's a 4.5 hour drive back home.

I'll bite. Don't they drive anymore?

Maybe your step-sis should hired a driver, aka transporter.

Because my sister is a selfish *****.

"sorry, I might be able to pick them up but I'm working X day and won't be able to drive them back."

of course I'm mean and would have said I couldn't take them either. It's one thing if they lived close by to you but it sounds like you'd be driving quite a bit out of your way.

ETA: oh it's your dad and her mother. I thought it was just her mother.

Short distances. Dad is blind in one eye and has memory issues. Step mother is also getting memory issues and had a mini stroke several years ago that affected her vision.

They get lost going to cedar falls from Waverly, no way in hell are they making it to Omaha.

Oooh, yup, they shouldn't be doing that drive.

How bad do the grandparents really want to go to this? My BIL's parents didn't make it to my nieces wedding last summer. They were offered a ride but still decided it was too far to travel for them and no one thought anything beyond "Yah, it would have been a long trip for them." Than again I don't have an ***-hole step-sis. :(

So we're talking Omaha to Cedar Falls to Lincoln and then to Cedar Falls? And not even offering to cover gas?

Nope. Nope nope nope nope.

My grandma was in a nursing home when I was married. Nothing really wrong with her but limited mobility issues. (No oxygen or special drug that needed to be administered) It was 2 1/2 hours one way to get her, but it would have to have been my mom or dad or aunt to get her. It just. Wasn't. Feasible. I would have loooooved for my grandma to be there...especially since my other grandma had died 5 months before...but it didn't happen. Sucked mightily. But I certainly understood why.

We need a GoFundMe here so we can pay my expenses to drive 55's dad to Lincoln. I'll waive my drivers fee. I'll buy my own chauffer's hat but you'll need to rent the big black transporter style Audi S8. A regular black A8 would do in a pinch. Downside is the passengers would likely arrive at the wedding slightly traumatized by the ride.

Only if you wear your tux and post a picture in front of the S8.

How about instead of that, you can just be her +1 for me?

Do posters actually think responding to a thread and at the end of your response saying "Mods please close" actually works or that the mods sit there and say "Oh well since you said so"? Or am I just missing the sarcasm in it?

Mods, please ban.
