Congrats Coach Prohm!

For his first year, nobody can complain about the result. Still puzzled about the McKay drama, but now it doesn't matter - this team is firing on all cylinders. That's the goal. It's very hard as a coach to get the team to peak at the right time, and he has done it. I don't think anyone should question the hire or the caliber of the coach at this point. Well done Coach Prohm.

I'd say that we are finally seeing a team that fully respects Prohm. They trust him and have bought in to him and these last to wins only instills that trust further because he has put together plans to thump those teams. I think we lost a couple games Hoiberg wouldn't have. I think we had some troubles Hoiberg wouldn't have had. I also think Prohm may have built a higher top end scenario than Hoiberg would have with the discipline this team is playing with right now. I don't think people understand what Prohm's been through this year and I would feel so good for this guy if we take it to the end.

When you beat a really solid defensive team that's 30-4 team like a drum, that's great coaching.

not trying to take anything away from him. but i was rooting for Arkansas little rock to beat Purdue because it was going to be the easier game, and the easiest road to the sweet 16. if either them or Iona are are scheduled any other time during the season its pretty much an automatic win. if we get beat down by 20 against Virginia because we are playing a team that can match our talent and we get out coached. then these two wins say nothing about CSP's coaching ability, but that is just my take on it. still like the guy though

I've said all year this is a good coach. Time for all the naysayers to be grateful and embrace "Prohmball". The future looks bright for the ISU Cyclones!

Winning breads trust.

For all the McKay drama that happened during the year, McKay is a happy, hard-working guy with a lot of enthusiasm through these first two games of the tournament. I don't know enough about what exactly happened, but whatever Prohm has done to work with McKay has helped a ton. Jameel is playing fantastic team basketball right now. My guess is Prohm has been patient and worked with him and somehow finally got through to him.

Eh, still think we should have beat tech and uni.

Who cares about those two games at this point?....

Of course there was going to be a small learning curve with any new coach. Prohm did a very good job with a weird situation that he was handed.

The only difference is that Fred would have landed 1-2 additional contributors if he'd stayed.

But who knows, we could have had a better seed and handed a worse bracket.

I don't really care. You have to beat who's in front of you. Duke beat a 14 and an 11. Virginia beat a 16 and a 9.

At the end of today, there will be 52 teams that couldn't do what we did.

Excited(wood) about this year, but equally enthusiastic about our long term potential. Coach is gonna have some fun recruiting trips now.

I think these two wins will help recruit a couple of high profile "Bigs" for the low post. That would be icing on the cake.

Good discussion and I might have been in that camp before I saw ALR play Purdue. I think ALR was the better team. They are outsized but they were more skilled, better coached and played with more heart than Purdue. Purdue is the slowest team I have seen us play this year.

The best thing from the ALR/Purdue game is that ALR just didn't have a full tank against us, had they it might have gotten interested there at the end.

Whenever a poster starts with "not trying to take anything away from him. but..." you know that he will try to take something away from Coach. Coach has done a great job. To your point, playing mid-majors in March is very different than playing them during the season; that is why it's called March Madness. We are in the Sweet 16; enjoy it; making up excuses for winning is worse than making up excuses for losing. Love the coach. Love the players. Flush.

You think we had a "full tank"? I thought Coach Prohm did a great job of rotating people to keep them fresh.

Hopefully he can have facebook and twitter on his phone again. The fact that our own fans forced him to delete those apps off his phone is pathetic and sad. And the fact that he held this team together thought the rough times we had this year and are now playing their best basketball shows what kind of leader he is.

Despite what went on during the year, this is what people will remember the most. Kudos to Prohm and the players, keep it rolling.

Many of us are wondering what Prohm did during the season to get the Cylones to where they are today. Some insight comes from an article in the Ames Tribune today; it helps to answer a lot of questions. http://amestrib.com/sports/men-s-ba...alidation-sweet-16-berth#sthash.otpR7BY3.dpuf.

It appears, based on comments by Monte and Georges, that Prohm was inserting his philosophy much earlier in the season than may have been thought and that it took a while for this philosophy to catch on. But the players all seem on board now, and that has explained their play as of late.

I never thought I'd ever quote Travis Hines, but here it is - out in public. It is an interesting read.

We had a lot more in the tank than ALR, I didn't see any of our team tugging on their shirt needing a break. My point was that both mentally and physically ALR didn't have what they had the first game. I think we still win that game and probably still by double digits if we play them the first game. I think we beat Purdue by double digits as well.
