Sideline Rules (in KU/OU game)

Lol, just like a couple years ago, KU fans point out minor misses (or even actually legitimate calls) to try to even out major misses. The balance of calls is far, far, far in KU's favor. Not even close.
Getting a no call on a blatantly obvious foul in the last 6 seconds of a tied game is MINOR? Hike your pants up; your bias is showing.

You've said this a couple times now, and you're wrong. Lucus running over Lattin was blatant displacement. Was the forearm to Mason a missed call? Yes. The foul on Lucas was absolutely the right call.
So we agree that the refs should have called the obvious foul and sent Mason to the free throw line to win the game at the end of regulation before Lucas had the chance to commit a foul or Mason had the chance to violate Hield's airspace? Good, game over with no 3 OT needed. KU wins, Rock Chalk.

Is there a video to this blatantly obvious foul? I'm not even trying to troll and I remember what you are talking about but from what I remember it looked more like he just kind of ran into his arm with his face. Don't remember it being all that bad but I could be wrong. I was surprised they called the foul on the rebound though

Oh, I agree that Lucas fouled him. It just shouldn't matter because if THAT was a foul then Mason's no call should have been a foul, too and we all could have gone to bed a lot earlier.

I hate to agree with TUCO but yes the no call on Mason getting fouled on the last shot of regulation I thought was bs. Lattin goes up to try to block the shot and comes across Mason's face with his arm is not Mason running into Lattin's arm.

Ironically Buddy could have used that to his advantage. I saw it once in a high school game. Team is pressing full court repeatedly jumping over the line and reaching over the line (ala jess settles or chris street style) because they know that eventually the ref will stop warning them. Anyway, inbounding player actually steps closer to the defender and goes to throw the inbounds pass with a two hand chest pass around the defender who's clearly reaching over the line to cut the angle off, but instead of letting the ball goes he fakes stopping with his arm extended. The defenders natural reaction was to slap his hand toward the pass to intercept it but because the defender was so close to the inbounding player when he did that he slapped the ball while it was still in the inbounding players hand. They blew the whistle and called a technical on him.

Except if the refs had not blown the even more obvious goaltend call, then OU would have had 2 point lead, and KU would have been forced to foul at end, Mason play never happens. Fun to play this game.

Well then what about the terrible foul call and subsequent technical at the end of the first half which resulted in 3 points for OU? This is indeed a fun game.

It would have been very interesting to see what the officials would have done if Buddy would have climbed up on the scorers table in preparation for receiving the ball from the official for the inbounds play. What would they have said when he said he was just using the 3 foot clear space around the court that is available for the player making the throw in? It would have been very interesting.

I can't imagine the amount of booo'ing that wouldn't take place.

Serious question Tuco, did you boo at the no call foul prior to the over the back call?

Still hoping to hear from some more refs about how you handle these situations. What do you understand the rules to be? Do you take common sense action as a ref even when there isn't a specific rule? What should have been done with Mason?

I had always thought there was a rule about defenders needing to be three feet away from the boundary, but I can't find that anywhere other than my memory.

My favorite part of trollco here is he whines about the Kansas non-calls but completely discounts or attempts to discredit the validity the opponent's non-calls (or bad calls).

This is true not only in this case, but in past transgressions where the league has admitted mistakes.

It is the quintessential stereotypical bad KU fan.

Dear KU lurkers,
America knows what is up with you....and we all Hate you. Not dislike, but Hate. Not just ISU, but UMass fands, Pepperdine fans, and eskimos who have never seen a gym too. The intimidated referees and their subconscious bias to not offend the smug bullies. The no calls. The dirty play of Selden. The arrogance of Mason afterwards is almost predictable.

Yet, you have no trouble focusing on the one against Mason in the first half was a bad call. And I think most of us agree.

Now, admit that the one against Mason at the end of the second half was a bad no-call.

Have some integrity.

KU and integrity on the subject of BB do not go together.

I don't understand why anyone questions this call it is the big 12 and Kansas will always get the calls. The problem Kansas runs into is when they get to the dance and millions are watching the Ref's try and make the correct call and Kansas has problems winning when they don't get those calls.

ISU must have gotten too many calls during the regular season last year.
