you are going to have to buy a new one, but you should be able to buy a SATA to USB cable and plug that into your new computer to retrieve the data on it. You may not be able to get your bookmarks (if you never saved a backup of them) but you should be able to get everything else. The cord should cost $15 or so.

All of my data files are backed up to a Western Digital Passport every night - including any pictures I load from my camera or phone. We have the disks for all of the peripherals (scanner, printers) and for all of the programs I use routinely (MS Office). There are a couple of programs we downloaded from the net; we won't have any problem locating them and downloading them again. The only things I CAN'T recover/replace are emails & bookmarks. :(

My grandpa told the story of their wedding photo. In the photo, he's sitting down and she's standing up. When people asked why he tells them, "The wedding was on a Monday night, and we our picture taken on Tuesday. I was too tired to stand up and she was too sore to sit down."

Your grandparents sound like very vibrant people. :)

Where were the emails located? Outlook? Folder on computer? Web server?

I don't like to be negative, and I especially don't like to talk poorly of other people. That said...

I really, really don't like bringmagicback. I feel like I could have a beverage and good conversation with anyone else on here. But that guy? Heck no. There are maybe five neurons firing in his head, at most.

Maybe it is just threads that I have no interest in that he is in, but I have no idea who this poster is but I know a lot of people hate him.

You're talking to a non-techy person here. I have a free version of Outlook that I use. My guess would be the emails are in folders on my computer, but there's a possibility that at least a portion of them may be stored with my email server (domain is mchsi.com). I'll be checking with them tomorrow...

If I had to guess, if they were stored in outlook they should still be on the mchsi server.

He has Audrey Hepburn as his avatar and signature...and he is the most non-funny snarky person on the boards. I enjoy sarcasm as a form of humor, but that's not what he's doing. He's sarcastic, but in a very mean way. I don't recall ever seeing him be nice to someone. It's really weird. And kind of sad.

BMB tries way too hard in his troll attempts for it to really bother me. He's like a not as entertaining Bode type of poster.

That's CyCrazy. We're talking about bringmagicback.

He's a rich, African American farmer that dabbles on the side as a music genius and piano savant while so having the ability to paint masterpiece artwork as a hobby. Also, he thought it was classy to dress as a World Trade Center tower with GI Joes hanging from him as people jumping to their deaths as a Halloween costume.

I don't believe any of it, but think he just said the last one for shock value where as the other stuff I think he's just trying to sound better than he is.
